This year's flu vaccine
Hi Lupie46,
Had a letter a while ago asking me to come in and have the Flu shot, however I thought against it as am on Methotrexate and I didnt want to risk it, even though the GP said it would be fine. But they said that about the Methotrexate too and now am having to see a Gyno due to hemmorraging ... Im just getting over a Flu thing and strep throat .. makes you feel crappy and didnt expect to have a Lupus flare after stopping my Methotrexate for one time! There are a few people who suffer after the Flu shot and there are some who swear by it ... I just didnt want to take a risk .... Hope you feel better soon xxx
Yes I have. Had the flu jab 3 weeks ago and my arm went red sore and achey within a couple of hours this was then followed by a whole body ache and generally feeling unwell I am still not quite right. My GP told me a few years ago that a red arm and feeling a bit off it for a few days was good as it showed that my body was making antibodies against whichever flu is included in the jab. So my thoughts are that no matter how the injection makes me feel it is still better than full blown Flu and all it's problems.
My hubby had his shot on Friday and has been so poorly since.
He has never had a reaction before and he has been absolutely floored by this one.
Don't know why this should be any different.
I am due to have mine next week as we go to different surgeries but after seeing him has put me off.
He has been shivering, shaking, one side has gone numb, feeling sick, baking hot yet freezing cold- you name it he's felt it and he is an awful shade of grey.
He is feeling slightly better today but that's 4 days on and he's not one for making a fuss he just gets on with stuff but not this time.
I hope you get over your reaction soon because if it's anything like my hubs has I really sympathise with you.
Take care.

Hope you feel better soon I hate when I get flu like. I have lupus and fibro and am really struggling with fibro symptoms in the cold this year so really don't know as I feeling so crap with my fibro already if I had it n I got the flu it would floor me and hubby can't take time off n we have demanding puppy
I will never subject myself to that cocktail ever again. My opinion

I don't know weather to have it or not either I don't want to feel worse
Hi jacclaire , have a look at our article here - lupusuk.org.uk/flu-vaccinat... - it may help to answer a few of your questions about the flu jab so you can make an informed decision.
I had a reaction last November which lasted until Christmas. So I am opting out this year.
I had mine yesterday and have had no problems. Did read somewhere that if you react badly then you may have been coming down with flu before you were given the injection. If you have already been infected then the vaccine won't stop it.
I had my flu Jab on Tuesday afternoon, that night I woke up with body aches, headaches, and shivering all over with no energy at all, I had to take a day off sick, and am still off today, but feel better than yesterday so thats a relief. I always have the flu jab every year, I have never reacted to it like this before. Having said that I thik it is worthwhile to get the jab as getting the real flu could be dangerous?
Spoke to my GP today. He said the flu jab is definitely worth the few side effects.Flu would probably hospitalise me.
