have a chat to your GP, they gave me some suger water and some tables which really helped me

my poor daughter 6 - had a tummy bug that gave her constipation for two weeks; poor little girl suffered - constipation can be painful

Ask you doctor will give you mild Laxatives a lot of pain killers do give you this problem,

so go now do not suffer!!

Yep!! I went and got Some senakot And they help after about 48hours, it comes out bigger than a tennis ball when I Finaly manage it and it really really hurts, actually having this problem right now and Decided to stop Trying because it hurts so much. JUst gunna wait until the lax works or ill probably end up crying. If you can't get to your gp go to the chemist. Waitin till it stops isn't an option believe me it just hurts more.

I regularly take Movicol, doesn't taste too bad and if I have 1 or 2 a day regularly then I do not suffer. I take Tramulief, a slow release Tramadol and it is well known to have this effect.

I had to stop Tramadol due to the pain of constipation, despite management with Dulculax and/or Movical (NB. I found Senekot too strong).

Eventually, my GP prescribed Transtec patches which administers (opiod) painkiller via the skin, thereby bypassing the stomach - works much better for me, but as a "controlled substance" can be an effort to obtain (I have it due be battling months of shingles pain!!).

Hi. Yes it does. I take Senna two tablets a day. I suppliants t this with oranges and bananas (bananas help both ways blockage and fluid). I have IBS and find milk makes me more fluid so I drink milkshake a if I find I am particularly bad. As Gettingold suggested Liquorice is a known natural lacsative as is chocolate.

You don't say if you take parecetemol at the same time but parecetemol help the tramadol be more effective and also helps with stomach issues. Its re emended in my pain clinic to take both. Good luck.

No-one has mentioned Fibrogel (which comes in Orange and Lemon flavours - not unpleasant)...makes the poo easy to pass, usually the next day, so no bloating. I try to keep Tramadol to a minimum (say 2 tabs not more than 3 times a day) - Paracetomol when the pain is not so acute, but NOT together. I just would not be able to cope with the pain without them, as they are the only oral analgesic that works for me. Avoid sugary/acidic foods, as this makes constipation worse for some people.

Hope you GP is able to help you with this uncomfortable side effect......
