once again unexplained bruising

OK so I was on steroids for poison ivy but this is ridiculous. I woke up with my entire inner thigh pitch black on Monday and on Tuesday my entire lower right abdomen pitch black. Went to ER and was told that clotting time is fine.

clotting time might be fine but the formation of platelets might be impaired - I'd go off the steroids but speak to the doctors, this is not normal.

Well I thought it was poison ivy but it was in fact a large scale reaction to red mulch. Please be careful out there with red mulch if you are latex intolerant. Red mulch has a substance called plicatic acid (Spelling?) which acts like latex. I reacted violently so the steroid pills didn't even help. Had to get a steroid shot to boot yesterday but also being sent to a hematologist as my RBC Hemogobin and Hematocrit is high and my Protein S (functional) is high and my anticardiolipin is high.

No idea what the heck.

Oh my goodness, it sounds dreadful! I hope the steroids will start working soon, red mulch, huh? Haven't heard of this before, thank you for sharing, it's good to know for future reference.

I'm glad I left the red mulch in the store. I bought the brown as it looked more natural. Now the trick is going to be staying away from the poison ivy as a lay the mulch out.
