can you get a tattoo with having Lupus
I was diagnosed with lupus in Jan 2013, have had symptoms for 13 years. I had my first tattoo about 6 months ago. It's not somewhere the sunlight will ever get to!! But I've had no problems, healed really well and quickly and I'm very pleased I got it!
It depends and it's different for everyone. I have one (a rather large line work piece) on my ribs and I was relatively ok. I had a bit of a flare from the shock of it but it healed well and I love it. I think if you're really interested you need to go talk to an artist and explain your situation because they'll have different practices and comfort levels regarding tattooing you. You need to find someone very very clean who is sensitive to when you may need to stop and is available for aftercare questions. And they also need to be flexible in case you're suddenly unwell and need to cancel an appointment. You need to consider what kind of tattoo you want. Big or small? Line work or coloured panels? Line work of any size heals faster with less chance of infection. Lastly you need to make sure you go at your healthiest. I have chronic low white cells so I had to wait until they were as close to 2 as they get before I got it done. Sorry for not giving you an easy answer but we're complicated people If you decide to go for it good luck, I haven't regretted mine for a second, even when my dermatologist made fun of me
I dont know alot about tatoos but i dnt think it is a good idea getting one. Lupus is a complicated illness and better not try anything that might complicate it further.
It is best to seek advice for your consultant before getting a tattoo as it varies between people. If you decide to try and have one done, it is a good idea speak with the tattoo artist about your condition and any medications you take beforehand. It is wise to do a patch test in case you are sensitive to the pigments. If you are on any blood thinning treatment it is very important to discuss this with the artist. It will affect the uptake of the pigment and may not result in the final effect that you were hoping for. Also be aware that due to lupus you will likely take longer to heal than most people and if you are on immunosuppressant treatment you will also be much more prone to infection.
Hiya....I have 5 tattoos and they have all been fine, just make sure you are resting and everything else is calm as to not put to much pressure on your body and bring on a flare....i had no complications with mine
