Hello everyone,
I have been GREAT (minored aches) up until this week. I am experiencing pain in my neck kinda like a muscle spasm. Is this normal or should I be alarmed???
I haven't been diagnosed with Lupus - but I do have hypothyroidism and RA and widespread osteoathritis they tell me (not yet confirmed by x-rays or MRI though - attributed to wear and tear - post menopausal). I also have small fiber neuropathy and have recently had a pain in my neck and jaw which goes up into my nose and I get muscle spasms and sharp nerve pains between my neck and ears and nose regularly just now. The only thing that flagged up recently by MRI was that I do have arthritis in my neck. But because it isn't affecting the spinal cord they don't seem to think it could be causing my small fiber neuropathy or my neck and jaw/ sinus issues. So I wonder how much I can attribute to it - doctors just shrug and seem to think it's wear and tear. But the sensations are really startling unpleasant and I think my glands have been quite swollen too so you have my sympathy. Someone suggested a Vagus nerve thing to me because of upper abdominal problems I've been having too.
My lupus pains started with neck pain15 months ago. I woke up with a severe pain from above my right ear all the way down to my right arm and it locked my neck. The pain caused a nasty headache.
I visited my local community hospital who informed me I had a condition called torticollis, which would pass in a couple of days and was told to just take paracetamol for the pain. Sure enough, the problem gradually improved over the next 5 days. Within a week of this torticollis resolving I started getting the classic lupus symptoms in my hands, arms and legs! Whether they are connected or not I do not know for sure but it seems too coincidental to me!
Torcolotis is Exactly what they said I have
I started with a pain in my neck about 2 months ago. It also went up into the left side of my head. I'm waiting for am MRI as my speech has suddenly goner weird and my tongue feels paralysed on one side. I have no idea if this is lupus related or not.
Thank you and that is what the ER
doctor said I had last night which he said the muscle that run from my neck to my back is some inflammation.
