Toe nails
Hi ebril, my toe nails are bad, will be having some removed soon. Podiatry say in my case, it is caused by meds, especially if you have been on them for a long time. They said that steroids are a big cause too.
Thanks I thought I was going mad 6161 and yes I have been on steroids for a while will have a chat with the Lupus nurse thank you
Hi Ebril
It could be fungal nail infection caused by steroids, worth also asking your GP as it can be treated. Good Luck.
Hi misty 14 no its definitely not fungal infection but thanks anyway xxxxx

You problem with nails rang a bell I have had an unsightly thumbnail with no explaination from anyone. I do take steroids for my sle so it seems from your replies this a possible cause. My toe nails have just begub to split, thanks for all thd help
Hi standing firm yes mine started to split first and then just came away I'm putting it down to the steroids I have left a message with the rheumy nurse will let everyone know what she tells me
Hi All my toe nails have come off!! They grew back stayed for a few weeks then came off again? Spoke to GP who took a photo as she had never seen anything like it. She also sent it to be tested but there was no infection. Also spoke the rheumatoligist who hadnt seen anyone with all there nails off, she didn't have any great ideas but said to use loads of cream to keep them soft. It doesn't hurt so I don't mind too much. Would just like to paint them sometimes in the summer xxx
