I have Lupus & Sjogren’s so not sure if to do with either.
Last few weeks my hands have been flaking badly. Saw recommendation on here for Eucerin Urea 10% so am at present trying that. Never had this before so don’t know if one of the autoimmune diseases are flaring or they’re just getting worse.
The other issue which I have no clue about are my nails. In last couple weeks I have had strange marks come on my nails. Started on one nail now I have on 4 of them. Could just be an infection but never seen anything like it before so I have no idea.
I’ve added a pic and if anyone can shed any light I’d be very grateful.
Worst case I see my rheumatologist end of this month so if still like it I can show him.
Thank you
Debbie xx

Do you ever wear nail polish? It looks like damage from the chemicals. My nails go like that even when I use special breathable polishes. If not the. Perhaps you have a deficiency of some
Hi thanks for your reply. I don’t really wear a lot of nail polish usually can’t be bothered with the faff of it. Did have a treat of some polish couple months ago so unless it’s to do with that??
How did you clear yours or did it just go??
Not usually a great fan of NHS pages but the one on nail problems is really good and has images to scroll through to find the one closest to yours nhs.uk/conditions/nail-prob...
This may be wrong, but I found this photo. No sense in worrying. Just start searching for photos of nail issues and skin issues on the hand and start collecting examples that look similar to get clues. I don't think you should have to wait to see the doctor. Go to urgent care if the doctor won't fit you in. Something is going on with your health and you deserve to have it looked at. As for tests for thyroid or whatever you think it might be. Be insistent. Could be a complication, but there are things that can be done to help. Also, consider dietary measures. It cannot hurt you to begin to look at diet and exercise in addition to medication if you have not already. webmd.com/skin-problems-and...
Here's another one. Look at the slide show on the bottom and go to splitting nails. It lists thyroid issues but also reactive arthritis, an inflammatory condition I think. There are things you can do with diet and exercise and even stress control and breathing that will reduce inflammation. It doesn't hurt to consider those in addition to your medical treatment. I use Paddison Program. nhs.uk/conditions/nail-prob...
I have this too but much worse ! Lovely local Pharmacist suggested Flexitol for hands - really good, so much so that I use their heel cream too. Well worth a try. Walnuts help your nails - 5 a day minimum. Good luck
I have this,Holly. Exactly the same. My Hematologist and Rheumatoligist told me it’s to do with Lupus. ( it’s not at all a fungus or infection. ) I was afraid it was.
It has a very specific name and I for the life of me can’t remember what it is.
