it’s has been 12 yrs since I was diagnosed with with stage 4 lung cancer
I’ve have surgery 2 lots of chemo, immunotherapy, and radiotherapy
It has been over 3 years since my radiotheyand I now have 3 monthly ct scans and all is stable
I’m under the care of Christie’s in Manchester and would like to say they are fantastic
Treatments have changed a lot and I know if there is any activity Christie’s will there fir me offering me treatment
So please stay positive and wish al well on your journey x

I have just had surgery, top lobectomy right lung 4 weeks today, and was really scared to read T4 on the surgeons report following the operation. I know my tumour was large, 7.8cm, it still comes as a shock. I'm still waiting on biopsy results from tumour and lymph nodes.
Reading about people like yourself who have been on this journey gives so much inspiration to those of us just starting out and scared for the future.

I was diagnosed in 2001 had surgery and 2x chemo then it returned again in 2013 in the top part of the right lung and a few small nodules in both lungs and it was in 2 lymph glands in chest wall
I then went onto clinic trial for 2 years then Christie’s offered me radiotherapy to the lymph glads in may 4 years ago and since then it’s been watch and wait with 3 monthly scans and so far it’s stable
wow you have certainly been through it, hope you continue to be stable.

I thought you couldn’t have surgery if you’re stage 4, very glad that you were able too
sorry I was diagnosed in 2011 not 2001 as that was when I was diagnosed with breast cancer
Congratulations. Really great news! My mother was diagnosed with sclc in 2016 and is no longer classified as terminal 6 1/2 years later - good news like this helps you realise there is hope when first diagnosed. This forum really helped back in 2016!
Hi liampaul03As I am just starting my journey of targeted therapy for stage 4 lung cancer the post you put up for 12yrs survival is inspirational and heart warming. I know all our journeys are different. But I have felt so isolated and alone. Hearing my diagnosis and feeling my journey would end sooner rather than later. Thank you for sharing. Keep strong, well and healthy.
I know exactly how you feel. My mum has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and we are still waiting for full diagnosis and treatment plan 6 weeks later. Its excruciating. And sadly her nurse and care at Royal Free Hospital has not been good so far. Seeing posts like this give us hope at a very dark and difficult time. Wishing you all the very best. X

It's very unusual for Stage 4 lung cancer patients to last so long.

I too have found the folks at The Christie really good. I’ve been on a trial for 3 years now. Though now slightly less stable. But I still feel I’ll get great care and treatment.
Thank you so much for sharing your good news story. I'm 19 months post- stage 4 NSLCL diagnosis. At diagnosis I had nodules in both lungs, lymph nodes and lots of bones. Let's just say it didn't look promising when I read all the stats.
After 3 months chemo and immunotherapy, I was NED, and have stayed that way. I have immunotherapy every 3 weeks at home. Not much hassle in the grand scheme of things and I'm back to cycling and working out, having stayed working pretty much throughout.
Modern treatments do offer solid reason for hope.
