Positivity through cancer

Dear Toptoffee
Welcome to the forum and so sorry to hear of how you are feeling. It is encouraging that your cancer was treatable but just having cancer can take a toll on you emotionally. This is not uncommon and even though it does pass, whilst you are in it, having support will really help you get through this. You will find support and encouragement from the forum.
We offer online support groups through zoom:
Living with Lung Cancer (Fortnightly group that is ongoing. Wednesday 2-3pm): This group is for anyone with a lung cancer diagnosis and who is looking for support and connection with others.
Body Breathing (14th November 2-3pm): Anyone who would like to learn helpful breathing and movement techniques.
Carers Support (Fortnightly group that is ongoing Fri 10am): A group for those caring for a person with lung cancer.
Managing Treatment (Monday evenings 7-8pm): Covering advice on all treatment at any cancer stage
You can register for the group support or one to one phone support through this link:roycastle.org/help-and-supp... or you can email our support coordinator Ellen Knapp at ellen.knapp@roycastle.org
You may find this NHS link useful to source helplines that specialise in mental well being: nhs.uk/nhs-services/mental-... or you could talk to your GP.
Cancer care map provides a list local support services and you can look up your area through this link: cancercaremap.org/
I hope you hear from others in the forum and if you would like to discuss anything you can call our ask the nurse helpline number on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600, or you can email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org

I'm going through small cell lung cancer myself and it has metastisized to my bone and though it's painful, I'm living life to the fullest. My plan is to give this disease back to Satan where it belongs. I'm stage 4 but do not feel it and am not letting it get me down. It doesn't have to be the end of your happiness. Take this time to get a look at a different perspective because it does make you appreciate things like family, the beauty that God gives us all for free and take every minute to live the way you want to live.
Currently, I am on a trip with my kids and best friend in Arizona seeing the grand canyon, enjoying the Navajo native ways, visiting a ghost town. Just living life and I feel so much better now than I have been. Don't dwell on it.
Hi
I’m 54 years old I have stage 4 small cell carcinoma lung cancer and I’m terminal I’ve had this for four years, i have regular ct scans every 3 months and it’s all been stable the last 2 years. i would love to go away with my best friend but out of loads of companies i have phoned only 3 will insure me but want an absolute fortune to which i can’t justify paying and they will only insure for a single trip not annually trip and quotes have been from £1100 - £2600 as soon as you say your terminal and the type of cancer it is, the quotes are through the roof or they just won’t even touch you for insurance. I would just love to go away its so unreal insurance companies can charge what they do, reading different forums there’s people like me and they get insurance so what’s the difference.
What an inspirational reply it is. Thank you so much and carry on living life to the full. Be strong and give this dreadful disease back to satan were it truly belongs !
