Hi all, I'm new to this group and hoping to find someone who can help me with their informed opinion.
I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, NSLC Jan of 2018. I had two tumors, one of which precluded surgery because of location near a major artery. I had chemo, cisplatin and gemetobine, to no avail. I then had radiation with carboplatin immediately follwed by Imfinzi, an immunotherapy drug for 1 year. I finished this in Aug when a CT scan showed my cancer had spread to my other lung and kidney, even though the original tumors had shrunk and remained inactive due to the radiation. I just started on carboplatin, Alimta and Keytruda. I have a KRAS variant but no other biomarkers. I'm 69 and in excellent health other than the cancer and being overweight. Drs. keep remarking on how healthy my lungs sound 🤪.
My question, does anyone have experience with drugs treating for the KRAS variant? My doctor says she has many long term patients but that they all have variants and are on immunotherapy drugs. A 2nd opinion from MD Anderson said I should keep doing what I'm doing but I'm starting to feel less than optimistic.

Thank you for reaching out to us. There is a clinical trial now looking at KRAS if you have a variant of G12C. Reach out to us anytime to see if there is a trial for you by calling our helpline at 1-800-298-2436 or by email at clinicaltrials@go2foundation.org. We would like to connect with you. Warmly, Kim
This KRAS trial Kim mentioned was a topic of discussion on their webcast last week. You can watch it on YouTube it’s called the Lung Cancer Living Room and it was recorded August 20. If memory serves its in the last half hour but the whole thing is worth watching.
I am also KRAS+ (12V) with Stage IV NSCLC (Mets to Brain and a Pulmonary Embolism) - Non Operable -- I was diagnosed in March 2015 and am very thankful to now be in Remission. I have been off ALL treatments for three full years and am doing well.
To date I have not entered into any Clinical Trials that specifically target the KRAS mutation, but it is something I definitely will pursue, If my cancer progresses again.
I had excellent results with Opdivo (Nivolumab) (which I had as second line treatment) after Chemo (Carbo and Alimta). I'm hoping that you will have excellent results with the Keytruda/Chemo Triplet you are now using. (Note: The Triplet was not an option I had at Dx, but is definitely what I would chose IF I were starting all over today.
I had my second opinion at Dana Farber, but ultimately chose to be treated at my local hospital after the both came up with the exact same treatment plan. Back at the time the Immunotherapy drugs (Opdivo, Keytruda, Tecentric) had not yet been FDA approved, but were in Clinical Trials. They both said, that they hoped those options for be available for me later, if needed. Luckily, by the time my cancer progressed (while on chemo) the FDA had approved Opdivo as second line. I absolutely feel it saved my life. I wish you the very best. Personally, I'd only opt to try and treat the KRAS, when all other options had been exhausted.
But my doctor never put me on any treatment since I completed 3 rounds of Taxol and ALL my joints hurt, I’m cancer free! I’ve had a rough double lobectomy and a tumor in my brain surgically removed and brain Mets radiation to remove the tiny Mets, right now I’m cancer free and thank god for everyday... the deal is side effects of Taxol hurt 8 Motrin a day
