So tired....

Its only April an I this is the 7th or 8th time I have been sick since Dec. I am so discouraged i am absolutely losing my mind. Will be seeing an allergist the middle of May, praying he can shed some insight. The past week nebulizer every 4 hrs rotating with alb inhaler, advair, flonase, singulair. Mucinex , steroids, antibiotics. What the heck is there left to do ?

Forgive my whining. Just tired ...

Thanks Trisham for sharing and truly sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time with your asthma! Can you see your allergist sooner? He needs to know what a hard time you are going through...Keep us posted and I hope you are better soon!

Hi trisham I can empathize!! On antibiotics since Dec. for infections, mostly acute bronchitis. Have asthmatic bronchitis. Feel tethered to neb to control asthma.

Saw allergist for testing last week. No major reactions. He and pulmonary doc ordered IgE serum and sputum reactive cultures. Results not in.

I should say, 2 years ago I was diagnosed with Primary Immune deficiency. I get IVIG replacement therapy every 4 weeks. No pneumonia in 6 months :). Doc is trying to isolate infection I am holding in lungs.

I am on prophylaxis azythromycin 3 X a week to help. I go off when full treatment round of other antibiotics needed for infections.

I have found using pep flutter valve, deep breathing exercises, masking while doing any cleaning helps.

Praying you get some answers! Please keep in touch. 🙏🙏

Bless your ❤️ Mary! It is no fun to be tethered to a machine! I can so relate !! I pray your allergy testing can bring you some answers that will help u feel better! I had asthma as a child then outgrew it then in my 30’s I would have occasional issues but the past 3 yrs has been a roller coaster ride an holy crap I am ready to get off this ride!!!

I developed the asthma as a result of airway damage from repeated infections. It IS a roller coaster ride. I am trying to learn all I can do to help myself. You are the only other person who has described the ongoing infections. It just plain crazy!! Good thing we're resilient. But that wears thin. Do you find you can't attend things you want to, or back out because you're sick again? I find I've had to take a different approach to commitments, and yet I don't want to feel left out totally. So frustrating! And of course...don't let it cause distress. relax, accept! Ha. Ok, I vented for the first time.

At nearly 67 I resent having to step back from level of involvement with historical society my husband and I co-founded, archaeology on our historic land, preservation of national register land and building. I want to dig in my gardens for hours, help haul timber, play with grandchildren... I am learning, but I refuse to give up!!

Hugs and prayers,

Mary

Sounds like you need to go in sooner ever try a spacer help get more medicine in your lungs. You may even need a nebulizer treatment or increase in med. also look at your diet limiting carbs has helped me! Keep trying don’t give up!

Yes I use a spacer, an nebulizer with albuteral an atrovent every 4 hrs for the last 10 days, religiously .. Along with rescue inhaler .. I have been eating a ton of fruit , apples oranges an bananas thinking maybe they would help.. so far NOthing seems to help.. my primary dr says go to er or call pulm dr ( which i did but no reply). Trying very hard to hang in there though I would like to slap the crap outta of some drs. If i only had the strength! Lol.

Please ask your primary doctor for a referral to a pulmonary specialist! This helped me after years of suffering and money wasted on useless prescriptions, over-the counter meds, going to family doctors and a allergist. My opinion only. Please get well soon.

I actually saw a pulm dr a couple of months ago to say I was disappointed is an understaatement. He did not review any of my med records.... He ordered some blood work an told me I should put my dog in a kenne for 4 days to see if he was a trigger.... He spent maybe 10min with me .. An poof he was gone ...
