So sick of being sick!

I have been struggling with allergies, asthma and bronchitis for years and I have been getting a lot of flair ups lately. I use an Albuterol nebulizer, singular and go on steroid packs and antibiotics. I have use inhailers like Pulmicort and Breo which helps with less flair ups but currently I am uninsured and I can't afford those inhailers. They cost $200-300 and I can't seem to find a cheaper price for any of them. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I am desperate to get some relief and start feeling normal again!!

Thanks for sharing!Here are a couple of ideas that might be helpful-

Talk with your doctor, nurse or pharmacist to see if they know of any medication assistance programs for the medications that you take.

Also, look on the websites of the medication companies-several do have coupons or discount cards that you might be able to use.

Please go into your local hospital. They cannot refuse you medication because you have no

insurance. Please speak to a social worker and explain your situation. Nobody should be sick because they cannot afford their medication. A. Campis

My Dr refused me. I was having an asthma attack and because i could not pay my past due they refuse to see me. Ended up going to an urgent care Dr and that was an horrible experience as well.

It's very important that you have an asthma team that works with you. What kind of health plan do you have. Metro Plus for example has their own asthma program that can work directly with you. For your own health, please make sure you have professionals that can help you and specialist who know you and what your history with asthma is. How long have you have asthma. Asthma is a chronic illness (somewhat like cancer) one cannot take it lightly. A lot of things are going on in your lungs that are not visible to the untrained professional, and for this reason it is imperative that you work with your pulmonologist, respiratory therapist, your primary care physician (PCP), your health educator and your nurse. You definitely need to put together a team, for cases like the one you mentioned. Your team can get to know you, your triggers, your exact medication so the person treating you does not have to start from zero. Take care and stay healthy.

Not sure where you live but call Total Care Pharmacy. They work with local hospitals and are able

to talk to health plans, to find a way for you to get what you need. This pharmacy is in the Bronx.

Usually the drug company can also offer you a way to get your medication cheaper as well.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this and the stress of no insurance. I have severe asthmatic bronchitis, with exertion trigger and allergies, so I understand the desire to be well!!

I am the same but I use the generic ones which my cost has gone from $300 to $89. And they work the same. Ask your pharmacist for the generic ones.

I know you said you used Pulmicort and Breo but try going to Sumbicort website you can get that inhaler free for up to a year. Of coarse you would need a prescription from your doctor.

Watch out fon muscle cramps with Symbicort. My allergist says they’re common and it’s not a side affect that goes away. They were so bad they made me scream out loud. And it doesn’t fade with time, she says.
