Hello! I have adult onset asthma. I was switched to Dulera and Incruse inhalers in November. I have always coughed some but now I am coughing wheezing almost continually. I’ve taken 5 steroid burst since January. Has any one had an adverse reaction to either of these meds?

I haven't had a adverse reaction on those inhalers but my symptoms were getting increasingly worse and my doctor switched me to a once a day Breo and it has helped. Has anything changed in your environment?

I also had more coughing with those . Felt like I was gagging all the time. Back on breo. Not coughing all the time.

I think I’m going to ask my Pulmonologist for a change. Thanks for your reply!

My dr. tried me on dulera and it seems to work for me well. my insurance does not want to pay for it until I try Advair and Symbicort. I really seems to help with my shortness of breath at night. the Advair and Symbicort seem to irritate my throat. Best of luck to you.

Look online for coupons. I got one free month and I’m on Medicare.

I had a mild lingering cough on dulera that I didn't realize until I was switched to symbicort. I don't cough on symbicort.

Tree 20862,

Thank you for your response! I’m going to ask my pulmo about a change to something different.

I have a hyper-reactive throat and easily start choking. Some of the inhalers use a propellant that is more aggravating than others. And I can't use Breo or others that have a powder.

Try using the inhaler with a spacer - -you should be able to get one from your pharmacy and see if that helps by slowing the force of the propellant down. If not, then you should definitely stop it and put it on the can-not-tolerate list. You might have a sensitivity to one of the chemicals in the formulary, but there's no way to really know for sure.

Oh -- and NEVER swap levalbuterol for albuterol without being prepared for what might be a substantial increase in your heart rate. They are not as interchangeable as some physicians and insurance companies would like you to think.

Good luck.

I m also on dulerz...new since 1 month. Dulera was prescribed for me after a couple months of nonstop coughing and wheezing. It has helped me. In addition I was put on a 3 time week azithromycin 250...had to discontinue the antibiotic due to stomach issues...but it got me on the right track. I have severe animal allergies which really get me depressed in this dog dominated world we live in. Does anyone else struggle with animal???
