Vaccine

I am extremely concerned about the vaccine. My son I believe got ITP from his 18month immunisation. It took a while and a few relapses but he has been in remission for about 2yrs now. I fear the vaccine will cause a relapse. I would like to see how others go when they get the vaccine as children are pretty much last to get the vaccine in the phase. When the vaccine is rolled out next month, please can someone keep us all updated. Thankyou

I believe my daughter got ITP from a vaccine. She had the cervical cancer vaccine when she was 11 or 12. Until then she was fine. Her consultant did not rule my theory out. Unfortunately she is not in remission and has had a hard time over the years with ITP. I think you are right to be concerned. Does he still see a consultant. Could you get advice? Is there any advice?

He had a great hematologist, but we moved not realising that the closest hematologist was where we moved from. They have no children hematologist here. Only adult. He's been in remission for a while now and hoping it stays this way. I just think that if ITP is caused by viruses, I do not feel comfortable giving him a vaccine full of viruses.

I believe my son’s acute ITP was triggered by the mmr vaccine when he was 1. It took us about 6 months of meds etc but his numbers were stable and we haven’t had an issue since (but also did not have labs done again once he was discharged from the hematologist’s care). I continued to have him vaccinated on an normal schedule and have not had any issues.
