Greetings from Arizona . Long time since I've been in here.
Just curious if anyone else gets really bad cramps.. legs, calves, hips? Yesterday I yawned and had a big cramp come out of nowhere under my chin downwards in front of my windpipe. They seem to be getting worse. I drink enough water, a banana a day.. I also take magnesium , B-12, B Complex, vitamin D-3 with K2, Liposoma Vit C. I've had muscle spasms since high school mainly in my back and chest.
Any experiences or thoughts would be much appreciated.
Take care all and Blue Skies to All.

Hi, nice to hear from you, I often get bad cramps (wake me in night) in legs especially in arch of feet and toes! Occasionally in my jaw, not found any common cause or answer. Maybe you've hit on another symptom?
Those cramps are weird and wild. I can have them from time to time, but the chest, back, and windpipe sound ,“next level“ painful.
When was the last time your iron ( includingferritin levels ) were checked?
Blue skies! ( it’s time for my husband to get his IFR updated again.) We’ve been logging a crazy amount of hours lately with work… west Texas and New Mexico.
Yes, I have suffered very badly from them . They are better under control now. I had one episode that was absolutely relentless, lasting 10 hours . I started a routine of stretches which I do before I get out of bed in the morning. This made a lot of difference. Then added a teaspoon of Elyte electrolytes in a glass of water daily with magnesium at bedtime. This has reduced the frequency and severity of episodes. When I get them I use a herbal remedy called cramp bark or drink some prickle juice.
Dehydration is a big risk factor. The very bad episode started on a strenuous walk when I hadn't brought enough fluids. Also sitting for too long , I try to get up and move round a bit fairly regularly.
Also if you have frequent cramps in your chest and back , it may be worth looking up INOCA, to see if this is a likely cause .
I hope this helps, it's horribly painful and it took me a long time to get it more under control.
yes. Most days. Morning night when asleep. Neck jaw, lately strange cramps in the forearm.
Magnesium is strange it seems worse when I take magnesium. I know I don’t drink enough water.
Some of the cramps are really painful. Some happen when I drive. Most inconvenient, stretching the effected area even if mega painful is the only way out for me.
Never thought of it being linked to my issues medically.
Hi the first things is do you take B12 injections or pills? Unfortunately you get very little B12 absorbed from a pill in some cases, (if gut has been compromised), however in a blood test your B12 will look high, and just the one test, will not show if you are actually taking up the B12 through your system. Luckily private jabs have gone down in price. Magnesium deficiency can also cause cramps. I use Better You Magnesium Sleep Lotion on my limbs, however since taking B12 injections my cramps have calmed down a lot. MaryF
My now deceased Mom had B12 issues. Her regular doc and Nursing home doc disagreed about whether she had B12 deficiency or not. Now I understand where this disagreement came from. But when she got the B12 shots she did not have cramps.
The culture out there for B12 and Thyroid medication is horrendous, no choice and dire diagnosis. My issues with Thyroid and B12 were missed for years. MaryF
Thank you for your reply. I use a B-12 spray under the tongue spray. A neuroligist I didn't get along with told me to "lay off the B-12" as my number was at 1200. From what I understand you cannot overdose on B-12 as it dismisses through urine. My gut is perfect. Had an endoscopy not long ago the doctor scrapped the lining checking on the gut bacteria and no bad bacteria present. . I take "Seed" probiotic, It works well. Besides the B-12 I take a B complex. I have Magnesium spray that I use too. Thank you.
Yes. I am in my mid 70s and often suffer with neck cramps. A full blood test after major bowel surgery showed my potassium levels were dangerously low. And wasn't addressed by my 2 Banana a day intake. Since been put on potassium tablets my twice a week in vein INR has improved so much it has become once a month. And greatly reduced cramps. Perhaps potassium levels might be a problem.
Interesting that two bananas a day didn’t keep you in the clear. However quite possible it did raise the low level some; just not enough. Thank you for you’re reply.
