I strongly believe in doing everything to avoid inflammation generally. Stop all processed foods, no seed oils and restrict or complete avoid grains (wheat, rice, corn etc) and go on a low carbohydrate diet. We all need to have a healthy glycocalyx which is the slimy lining of our blood vessels.

look up insulin resistance which what causes obesity diabetes hypertension and inflammation which all makes APS worse. Good luck

Agreed. Think anti-inflammatory diet. Pretty much vegan/vegetarian diet mostly or Mediterranean diet. Eliminate sugar completely or as much as possible!!!

We have gone more ketogenic and animal based foods with vegetables that grow above ground and organic. We did carnivore for 3 months which was amazing in that it cleared my wife's chronic hives, irritable bowel and blood pressure.

Hi nmousdic.

I’ve been hearing amazing things about keto and my friends are doing it who have no illness, and say they feel even better than ever. I have lupus, APS., but I also have atherosclerosis in a severe way, with angina etc. I’ve been told my many the keto diet could make CAD better!!! I can only visualize plagued arteries and vessels, getting worse, or is that old thinking. What are your thoughts. Thank you.

According to my research the paradigm has shifted big time. You need to do your own research and decide. Listen to Youtube video by Dr Paul Mason , and Gary Fettle out of Australia, Nadir Ali, Texas, Dr Paul Saladino, David Feldman of cholesterol code.com

Your fasting insulin should be below 5 , CRP less than one and a Triglyceride HDL ratio of less than 2

I think people have to be really careful if they go and radically alter their diet, due to medications they may be taking, so good to check in with GP/Consultant etc. However for years I have carefully followed a gluten free Mediterranean diet also of course keeping an eye on my Thyroid, B12, Folater Ferritin and vitamin D, coupled with daily exercise. I will never eat gluten again, been off it for years now. I only have one treat a week and keep away from sugar in the main. MaryF

Agreed , be careful we are not all the same . The carnivore full on keto diet suits men as muscle distribution I think only . When I have tried it . Totally constipated . I need a bit if dairy for my osteoarthritis to avoid fractures . Elderly told to eat a bit . Blue cheddar cheese does the sane as kefir abd pickles but cheaper than bought kefir . Plus my CHOLESTERAL tests shot up . I CANNOT EAT BUTTER BACON FAT ON MEATS. I gain weight instantly , get in stomach . I need fibre of veg salad blueberries to poop. After stopping carnivore or pure keto , all weight returns I am told . All the animal protein has to be organic! Or get all the chemicals animal eats and hormones. Expensive . Butter is a huge no no for me .fat on stomach in. A week .be careful . What about if on blood thinners for clots ? Red meat etc thickens blood does it not ?

yes agree all. I have APS , I am going on the weight loss drug from NHS next year , as gastric stomach reduction op 10 years ago . Weight back on . Not hugely obese but knee arthritis. I feel I have insulin intolerance . Is why . Thr Gastro specialists must think so also to start me on the drug. Delayed from this year . Don’t know why? Funding ? If I eat something sweet like a Sainsburys jam cream scone . I get a big rush then sleepy . That’s my blood test , The scone haha 😂. Diet is anti inflamm. It’s a complicated condition . I’m. Staying in 10 mg RIVROX as unprovoked clot initially . Feel good no clots . Very good diet as per previous post but no weight loss .my body will not concert sugars properly From anything even natural . Lettuce blueberries 0 % yoghurt steam veg nothing N O T H I N G .
