In short no. If you ingest too much fat it will be excreted and you'll notice that when you go to the toilet your stools will be fluffy and float.

thanks for the info. I just read your profile and looks like your diet is similar to mine. I don’t eat bread in any form. Have you listened to the ZOE podcasts regarding food and nutrition l find it really informative

kingsnorth, Yes. It is possible to have too much Olive Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and in fact all-oils.

Olive oil is very calorie-dense. It contains a lot of potential energy for the body, far less energy than that found in less-dense calorie sources such as fresh vegetables.

If you, like me are overweight or obese and are trying to lose weight, the reduction or elimination of Olive Oil and all other oils can be a tremendous help, especially when combined with as many other habits as you can identify.

thank you for your reply. I’m not overweight but do like to watch my calorie intake. I do not use any other form of oil.

This is good. I eat chicken, fish and other foods that have protein in them. What do you eat with the chicken/fish?

As long as you don't overdo it by having your food swimming in olive oil, you should be OK, The 'bad fats' are those which come from processed food and meats

Olive oil is a Polyunsaturated fat as are Sunflower and Rapeseed oils.

Monounsaturated fats are found in things like Corned Beef, (canned) , Spam and similar meats Salami and others of that family should only be taken occasionally.

chicken with salad with leftover chicken l cook chicken and sweetcorn soup to which l add onion garlic and carrots. With my fish (usually salmon) l have corn on the cob fresh tomatoes and spinach. Yesterday l made a delicious Spanish butter bean garlic and spinach dish which was full of protein and vitamins

Olives can be pretty high salt, so it's best not to over-consume them. Salt has a sweet spot: you can consume too little, and you can consume too much, both extremes aren't good for you.

thank you l have just bought some black olives as l read they don’t contain quite as much salt.
