I'm new on this site and just thought I'd share this: Had what I thought was a healthy lunch today comprising of some olives and feta cheese in olive oil, with just a few fries and, oh, and half pint of lager because of the weather. Well the calories were far far above my estimation and well above what the healthy eating charts recommendation for lunchtime calories. Now that I know the calorific values of Olive oil and olives, I will wont be having fries with that meal kind of meal again!

Hi Jerry, It was a real learning curve. I didn't know that one olive was 4 calorie...and I had loads plus the feta cheese which was mind blowing in calories and plus the olive oil! I love those items, so I will be more vigilant next time . Hope you're doing well.
Hey, I was joking as you’re right it all adds up and the fries really push them up.
It’s only when we start to look at what we are really eating that the penny drops and you know now, which’s great, so you’re in good company on here...
Oil whether it is olive, extra-virgin, coconut, spray, cheap, expensive is the most calorific food on the planet, bar none. So if you are calorie counting then dropping the oils is a no-brainer.
Not all calories are the same, eating olive oil does not make you fat. It also has lots of health benefits, especially for the heart. Giving up the fries is a better idea.
