Being off work isnt fun, what are you all doing while stuck in the house?

Its beggining to get a bit boring ..
Hi Hidden ,
I understand completely what you mean by being bored. I miss going to my job, too.
What I’ve been doing since I can’t get to go back to work until further notice is: reading, taking care of my Nephew and Niece everyday, listening to music, card games, going on the groups, etc..
Are you okay? Stay safe and in touch!😀👍
Yes im fine, just need to keep occupied.
I have been out cycling today and done stuff at home, but i need to be doing more.
Thanks for asking.
Cycling is a great idea for exercise and a way to pass the time.😀👍
Do you have any hobbies that you can do around the house?
Hobbies, i might draw a bit.
What about you?
I love to read, play card games, word puzzles and some crafting ideas.😀👍
Drawing is good! You can always post your drawings on here and use the Arts and Crafts or Hobbies Topics.😀👍
Lets see your crafts then?
It may take a while for me to get them done.😀👍
You havent done any?
Coloring pages has been mostly it because I have my Nephew and Niece everyday during the week day hours.
ok
Thank you! When I have other crafts to do, I will post them.😀👍
Ok, that will be good to see.
Can't help you I seem to be even busier with work the last few weeks - jealous of all my neighbours sitting in their gardens enjoying the sun 🤨
Poor you
Thank you a little sympathy and a glass of wine is making me feel better 😂
A good mixture, im glad you are happy now
I have been on holiday this week, was meant to be away but of course now it has been a staycation. What have I been doing? Having a much needed break, cleaning out some cupboards, typing up an old holiday diary I found in a cupboard (actually I found loads of those old journals, it would be a good ongoing project to type up the lot. Organising our piles of old photos would also be a good job worth doing) Also been going on Ancestry and doing some family history research, mowed the lawn, argued somewhat with my other half (we aren't used to being home much together) walked the dog (thank goodness we are still allowed to do that) cooked some rather strange food because I wasn't able to get much food in, joined a couple of exercise challenges on here, one involves climbing up and down stairs numerous times to 'climb Everest' so have climbed the stairs a lot! and done other exercises, chatted to my isolated mum on the phone, tried to comfort my daughter who has had to postpone her wedding, read a book, watched some TV, bathed the dog, bathed myself, cleaned the bathroom!! wrote an actual proper old fashioned letter to an old friend. Emailed some friends who live abroad to see how they are faring. Watched the news, felt a bit scared, wondered if my affairs are 'in order' If I had another week off I might tackle my filing cabinet to address that question Oh, and popping on HU of course
The Pirate's Daughter, Margaret Cezair-Thompson. Now started Life After Life by Kate Atkinson. I'm about 100 pages in and it is beginning to occur to me that I have read this book before, it must have been ages ago though. as it is only vaguely familiar
Are you enjoying The Things We Do For Love?
I'm doing much the same as you..
I hope it ends soon and people stop being ill from this virus.
Take care of yourself..
Gardening, washing, tidying out kitchen cupboards, gardening, planting seeds, light housework, gardening......
I'll do some gardening at some stage, housework etc
Drawing later I think..
Thank you
This is when being naturally antisocial is a benefit especially as I live on my own.
I went out early to get a few groceries. Saw the queues at my local Sainsbury’s superstore and doubled back to the Co-Op. okay I didn’t get any eggs or fresh veg but I did get bread and deli meat plus ice cream Whooooo, I love my ice cream 🍦 When it’s got home I ripped up a load of Amazon boxes and have now settled down to watch TV and do a bit of knitting.
Honestly I’m getting things done that I’ve put off for a long time and it feels good.
I got myself a list of things to keep me busy now..
You are doing good..
Thanks for the reply.
Last Saturday I started to write a list of things to do which take no longer than 1 hour. It took 30 minutes to fill two A4 sheets and had to give up. I’ll continue the list when I’ve nearly completed the existing tasks.
By the way, I am a prolific list maker 🤪 (it’s a good job I proofread this reply otherwise I would be known from now on as a prolific lust maker 😮).
That must be some list 😂
Lists are good though..
I see what you mean about the list, I did it too 😅
I am still working at the minute (thankfully) but I think the weekend I will be painting the Kitchen.
Lucky you still working...
Very, long may it continue. Such worrying times
Yes life is hard at the minute, but we all will just soldier on and get through it together..
I'm sure your right 👍
I hope so..
I have another three months of this ahead.
Fortunately, I'm happy in my own company and in my little family bubble.
I work from home and - even taking the virus out of the equation - home is my preferred haven. Not for an instant have I been bored. Probably because I sweat the small stuff!
It's true that I miss being able to exercise my independence and just go out and people-watch, for instance, from the depths of quaint tea rooms or a coffee shop of an afternoon, but then I haven't been able to do that since last summer. So I've kind of got used to that, too, now.
I miss the hospice, though. Therapeutic and calming.
They've more or less closed their doors to outpatients for the time being, offering phone consultations instead.
What a horrendous, wretched time this is.
We are the Covid-19 cohort, forever tainted by trauma and intransigence.
Roll on, normality. Roll on, boredom.
Thats good that you like your own company, i do at times too... my problem is my short attention span, i cant do one thing for to long.
My mum died last September, I brought all her L.P.'s back here, 60 years of memories I could not let go. So every day I play one. I hope my mum would approve, people tell me they are worth money, but I do not want them for that. I love and miss mum, but my sister will not speak to me or my brother. Also I am sorting cupboards and drawers that need sorting. Keep busy and the time will go quicker. Good luck, stay safe.
Hi San-_Ray70..
I still haven’t brought my mum’s LPs from years and years that all the family collect during 40’ until 90’ that I left to the USA..I believe is a memory that we all keep her music, brothers and sisters, until the younger one take care of.. I will always have her in my heart and memories and I will always cherishes her.. wherever I go.. sorry for your lost.. and keep going forward..life is beautiful..
My mums house is being done up by my brother and then will be sold, the records were going to be dumped, I could not let that happen.
I'm a care worker so still going to work so not feeling it s much as others but your really being hero's staying at home so Thank you.x I think there are lots of free online courses on at the minute if anyone is interested in trying something new.
Well, It's being difficult for me, as I am quite an active person and, although I also enjoy my afternoons relaxing at home and watching a good movie or reading a good novel, it begins to overwhelm me that this will be my plan for all afternoons until my company reopens (in two months minimum!).
At the moment I keep my mind and body "busy" with basic daily tasks like cleaning and cooking; I have started several free online nutrition and language courses, and I will retake my online yoga classes soon (I left it long ago due to lack of time!). Luckily, I live in a small town that is part of the New Forest National Park, so I can go for a walk, take a breath and enjoy the scenery once a day, without putting my health and that of others at risk.
I have also started making a list of all those movies I always wanted to watch, and I enjoy watching them with my partner, because we both love cinema.
Ah! And I try to keep in touch with my friends and family to support each other!
You seem to have a good routine set, you have lots of things planned.
Tidying house ughh,Doing Garden great ,tidying my papers , catching up on phone with friends who are not on email .... they are very likely to be at home , share utube like joe wicks keep fit . do keep fit , listen to favourite hymns on utube , try to sing along, take brisk walk at 6.30 am to hear birds sing, meet very few people . streets are so quiet .saving money by doing little shopping .
Trying to raise funds to supply bore holes to villages that we, Wulugu Project, support in Northern Ghana who have no potable water so washing hands is a luxury . Our team are visiting our villages to tell them about the virus and we are trying to provide boreholes £4000 each but one could save a whole village
For the last 26 years Wulugu Project has been building primary schools in very remote villages that have none . Ghana Education Services provide teachers and books but can not afford the capital cost of the building .
If bored do look us up wulugu.co.uk and see what we have done
Donations for bore holes very welcome . Dont be bored ... do something.
It can be frustrating when you are used to being on the go, but think of all those jobs around the house you can catch up on. I am increasing my physio exercises for Spinal Stenosis, gardening, and freshening the paint work around the house, I am never bored, and take a rest with a lot of tea and FaceTime a friend.......I am just so grateful that so far I am well, absolutely nothing to whinge about, sparing a thought for those affected it’s heart breaking. Best wishes to all.Dee
