Am new to this site, best foods to eat and foods to avoid, I need to find a way to improve my bones, is there vitamins or mineral to recomme

I suffer from hasmito, I have had 5 spontaneous fractures in the last three years , in pelvis and both feet, I also have sleep apnea, diagnosed 11 years ago but only just being treated , using a cpap machine , which caused high blood pressure

Hello maddiepoopoo firstly welcome to the forum and poor you as you do have a lot going on but we have many members with thyroid issues, so you're in good company on here.

For strong bones we need calcium but our bodies also need magnesium to absorb calcium and over half the population is deficient in magnesium.

Many foods contain calcium including sesame seeds which are a great way to get an extra boost with a crunch.

I was actually told by someone who works at Holland & Barrett that the calcium comes from the crunch in foods.

Leafy greens all have calcium in them but one green food in particular for a good helping of calcium would be lettuce. Lettuce is very crunchy and of course has calcium.

This is not to say that a Cadburys Crunchy is a good source of calcium.

Actually, doctors used to tell you to drink cow’s milk as it is a good source of calcium... that is a myth. You can get more calcium from leafy greens, nuts, cacao and other sources.

You can get calcium from cow’s milk but not much and according to vegans, humans aren’t supposed to be consuming cow’s milk anyhow.

Hi, I have Polymyalgia Rheumatica and have to take steroids which weaken the bones. I take vitamin d3 and calcium along with Vit k2 and magnesium and also walk 10,000 steps a day. This has changed my bone density from mild osteopenia to normal

Hi,

One thing I would do is stop drinking cow’s milk if you already are.

Baobab extract powder is rich in vitamin C.

Hi maddiepoopoo. Has your recent blood tests shown any vitamin deficiencies?

My husband has broken several bones recently and the orthopedic hospital has put him on Accrete D3 tablets twice daily. He also takes magnesium which is good to help absorb Vitamin D. Also vitamin K2 to ensure it goes to bones and teeth. I am hashimoto's and also deficient in Vitamin D which I take in the form of BetterYou D3 + K2 oral spray plus magnesium. Hope this is if help.
