Tesco sell Biona Organic Saurkraut (which being organic is unpasturised). Usually £2.50 currently £2.00 until 16/4 (UK). I'm currently trying the beetroot one. I've tride the golden with turmeric and the plain on and like them.

They also sell Kuchnia Polska Sauerkraut 520G which is not pastaurised for 85p. Not tried it but at that price it's definitely workth trying.
I've noticed that those Biona sauerkrauts contain vinegar which kills the bacteria and defeats the object really. It's really easy to make your own and a lot cheaper.
That surprises me but you're right. I just assumed they followed the same recipe as their original saurkraut with juniper berries. The Kuchnia is good though. Personally, I broke my right arm last year and my hand is partially paralysed due to nerve damage so making my own or anything else for that matter isn't an option.
The fact that it's organic doesn't mean that it's not pateurised. Organic refers to the way the ingredients are grown, not what happens to them afterwards. Read the label and it should tell you whether or not it's been pasteurised. If it doesn't say npasterised then it's been pasteurised. The reason that unpasteurised sauerkraut is usualy expensive is that it has a short shelf life due to being unpasteurised and therefore can't be mass produced in factory like conditions.
