This is my first time posting, and I can say I'm so glad to find this site. I'm a college student trying to lose weight, improve health and just be healthy. I'm in need of some advice and hoping you guys have some ideas.
I usually have a good diet, my three main meals a day (breakfast, lunch & dinner) are usually balanced and nutritious with fresh ingredients. I live at home so most of the time I make my own lunches rather than buying I've noticed though that my snacks are where I fall down and also that my protein consumption is lower than it should be.
I don't get time to cook much at the moment and I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas for snacks that will increase my protein and ones I can buy on the go (like from a supermarket and that I don't have to prepare at home). I also have a slight allergy to dairy so avoid yoghurts, milk drinks etc.
Thanks

Welcome to the Healthy eating forum. It's great that you're looking forward to participating here and that you've done your first post. Regarding snacks, I would suggest having a look at the 'Healthy snacks poll' - as people wrote many ideas there, and also in the Topics area there is a section which is specifically about 'snacks' - alternatively put 'healthy snacks' in the search window (top right) and you'll see previous posts about snacks.
Hopefully you'll get some ideas for snacks that you'd enjoy.
I realise you're looking for 'ready to go' snacks - so you may find less posts about that, as I think many people are preparing their own - but have a look through and see what you think.
I've heard of something called Lara Bars that you can buy in the US, which I think are a dried fruit and nut bar. I know they have no preservatives, dairy or sugar (although the dried fruit is a form of sugar). If you can get sugar free beef jerky, that could also be worth trying.
I mostly snack on fruit, olive pouches, carrot sticks and nuts.
Grenade Carb Killa protein bars are my go to, along with hard boiled eggs, tins of sardines, cottage cheese, the ubiquitous protein shake, biltong, cold chicken legs, rollmop herrings.
I don't know which country you live in but here in the UK they sell many protein snacks like Deliciously Ella's protein balls which are dairy free. You could make your own too. It doesn't take long and it's fun. There are lots of recipes online, just google protein balls. Today I made the almond ones, they last for a week. 😊
