For figuring out the A1c, you take the result and multiply it by 18. For example, 4.7x18= 102.6. This is for Diabetes/3-4 month blood sugar results and to see how the food a person eats affects them. I hope this helps.
Am hopeless at maths did that but still don’t understand my U.K. levels of 39 and how it corresponds with the ideal of below 5.7 am i anywhere near this do you know? Thank you for answering
102 is in mg/dl when multiplying. It’s also under the 140 mg/dl cut off for being a person with Diabetes. What do you usually have for your meals/snacks?
I have tried over many years to eat sweet potatoes but can not stand them in WalesU.K. only ones we get are the red ones think some can be ordered on line but far too expensive if I don’t like them. Should I have more low carbs then? I love potatoes and used to eat a lot as follow Dr McDougall but have cut them down now
I don’t know but I bet it’s a lot being vegan,Trying to stick to salads and veg. Cut down the white potatoes, thankfully I never eat rice or pasta or pizza only couple of slices of gluten free bread a day.
Tried to find a good low gi list so I can keep on iPad
No baked potato not good for us, do sweet potatoes. All my numbers are amazing now and I've lost 70lbs. My A1C used be 5.8 to 6.5 now it's 5.3 and no more high blood pressure. Do steel cut oats With Flax seed and beet powered organic. They will help alot.
Yes that's wonderful congratulations , My weight is 135 now and I am so happy and feel great all my blood work is normal doing really well. Keep up the good work
Thank you that’s great I am in range just checked, wish I knew what he in book suggests that corresponds to uk levels.I did have pre diabetes a few yrs back but been out of it a few yrs.
I can only talk from personal experience. Always ask an expert for advice. I no longer test my BS. When i did, BS rose after eating. My aim was to keep it within 4-7 after 2 hours and overnight. So after eating there can be an increase. Test after 1-2 hours to get a pattern and these readings will be more representative.
Because, I was not diabetic but had post prandial hypoglycemia, my endocrinologist told me to limit testing and trust my own reactions to food. It is possible that the glucose testing machine you have is not 100% accurate as the results work within tolerances of accuracy of at least 95% at 5.6 (diabetes UK).
