Healthier Deserts

Are there any healthier deserts (please don't say fruit!) that I can have. I make a great vegan Indian rice pudding called kheer but it's loaded with sugar.

I quite like this chocolate recipe. You can add things like freeze dried raspberries, chopped hazelnuts, raisins, almond flakes to make it a little more interesting.

Do you like hummus and/or dip? You can always do a vegetable platter with dip/hummus as a snack. 😀👍

I make Kheer but with very little sugar as I don’t like it too sweet - I use rose water and cardamom in mine😊

Two ideas - one is chia pudding - roughly equal quantities of raw soft fruit or stewed fruit and milk (or water) blended, with chia seeds added, and left for 2-3 hours to set. Then I love plain yogurt (preferably greek for me) with a teaspoonful of cocoa mixed in (no sugar)

Depends what you want I don’t have a sweet tooth but when I do in get some Greek yoghurt frozen berries, flakes almonds and drizzle of honey and smash up a meringue basket and mix that it with it it bit like a cheats pavlova and gets rid of sweet craving 👍

I replace sugar with sweeteners. I made a really lovely dessert on Sunday which was sugar free. 350gms fresh blueberries, juice and zest of an unwaxed lemon and 5 tablespoons of sweeteners. 175gms fatfree vanilla yogurt. Mix 100gms of self raising flour with 40gms low fat spread (I did use butter, that is my choice) and two tablespoons of the sweetener. Rub together to make a crumble. Stir in about three tablespoons of vanilla yogurt with a teaspoon of vanilla essence to make a dough. Stir the remaining sweetener, lemon juice and zest into the blueberries and dollop four good spoonfuls of the dough on top. Bake for about 20/25 minutes at 200°. Serve with the remaining yoghurt or to be naughty cream. It was delicious and I guess you could use different fruits.

I also make a rice pudding with only a little sugar and add cinnamon or vanilla for flavour. I also make a low sugar banana bread with a few dark choc chunks in it. My favourite dessert is yoghurt with a little home made curd or jam and chopped nuts. Also if you have frozen banana you can blend it with yoghurt and peanut butter for a quick home made ice cream. Or my absolute fave is simply a square of v dark choc.

You can replace the sugar with condensed milk , honey or jaggery powder if it's available. If you're using honey add it after the rice is cooked and milk has thicken.

Hi, I use healthier alternatives to white sugar such as maple syrup, honey, coconut sugar.

If you like Indian food, there are loads of recipes on ushasveryown.com

I’ve also got a fabulous recipe for sweet potato and dark chocolate brownies which I have yet to add to my blog

So much depends on how you define healthy! It's a tossup nowadays, right? I eat keto, so for me, a healthy dessert is homemade creme brulee, with egg yolks, heavy cream, and not too much monk fruit/erythritol/allulose blend for sweetener. Or rhubarb pie with almond flour crust. Or a coconut milk milkshake. Etc...
