Hi folks,

I’m new and ready to make changes in my life and hoping this is a great way to start. I turned 50 in February so here’s to the next happy, fit and healthy 50. I love cooking, running, dancing and walking with my family but have neglected all of the above and want to do something about it. Hope to pick up some tips and inspiration.

Hi Hidden ,

Welcome to the Healthy eating forum. I love your attitude - looking forwards to the next fit and healthy 50 years - and you've got a nice range of interests - I hope you can get back to enjoying them again.

Looking forward to seeing you around and about in the forum. There are lots of Topics and Pinned posts to look at here, and it's fun to post as well - so hope you'll enjoy it too.

Hey, thanks for your encouragement today, just what I needed. Going to plan to run after work tomorrow and then cook, got aubergines, pork mince and other veggies plus a drawer full of herbs and spices so any tips on a tried and tested recipe?? Looking for inspiration 🏃🏻‍♀️

Hi Margaret,

Just saw your reply - I suspect you've already made a meal now from your ingredients, so I'm wondering what you decided to have in the end. I hope you enjoyed it, and that you're having a great week.

Hey, sorry took so long to message u back. I made a sort of bolognaise with 5% pork mince, mixed peppers, red onion, carrots, garlic, smoked bacon with fat cut off, oregano, fresh basil, seasoning and chopped tomatoes and purée. I roasted my aubergines with a few sprays of 1kal and had this instead of pasta. Success, my son

My son loved it, very tasty but u could throw anything in with ur mince and bulk up with lots of chopped veg 😉

Your meal sounds really delicious, and great that your son enjoyed it so much as well. That sounds like a success. :-)

Hi there Hidden , welcome to Healthy Eating. I have always kept myself fit and rarely stopped doing the exercise but where I failed for quite a long time is the healthy eating side of things. Move forward to a few months ago and joining the Healthy Eating forum and I now don't eat milk chocolate as I don't really like it but do eat dark chocolate very occasionally. I cannot believe I am saying this but since buying raw fruit bars in Aldis that only have Cashews and Dates in them I don't eat milk chocolate (I had a Ripple bar a few weeks ago now as I was at my daughter's house and forgot to take my raw fruit bar and that's why I had a Ripple, I didn't like it, this would have been unheard of this time last year).

I now make my own raw fruit bars (I still buy Aldis ones from time to time) and also make all my meals from scratch as well as make my own sourdough bread. I have realised that it doesn't actually take that much time.

All the very best to you and this is your first step to the next 50 years. :)

Thanks so much C.F. For ur tips and sharing ur own experiences and I do shop in Aldi so will pick some bars up. Have a great week.
