Anyone who follows my posts will know that, based on my own life experience, I stress the entirely positive values of a whole-food plant based diet with no oils. I say that for anyone reading this so they know my own position.
The What the Health film (initially on Netflix and now on youtube), see youtube.com/watch?v=MfUfTU6... has brought a lot of the controversy to the fore.
If I can dare to summarize dietary life into three camps this way. The SAD (standard american diet) followed by people in ignorance about any of the values of really understanding how much effect food has on our bodies. Then there are the low-carb / paleo advocates who tend to stress values of eating high-quality meats but with a larger intake of vegetables. Finally there are the high-carb advocates who denounce eating meat in any form as bad for the human body. I am in this last camp.
Anyway What the Health has brought the issues very much into public debate. Latest of these is a meeting of a slew of low-carb doctors vs one plant doctor on a TV show paid for by adverts from low-carb solutions. Here is a link to the debate youtube.com/watch?v=tdgdfSy... as covered by Plant Based News.
For anyone (and I think everyone should be) interested in this debate I think this is very useful viewing.
