Whats your favorite foreign food? What my favorite foreign food is the Japanese sushi, though it can be seen everywhere, it is not usual in the normal family meals. And it's a healthy food I think.

Interesting question as 'foreign' is a very relative term :)

I'd say almost all the food I eat is foreign in that the UK doesn't have a particularly strong native food culture and as lifelong vegetarian/vegan I couldn't participate in much of it anyway.

Most of what I cook is Indian or Mediterranean inspired in terms of flavouring and ingredients.

I travel a lot for work from coast to coast in the US. Thai food has become my "go to" cuisine when on the road.

What I have had for Thai food are so sour and spicy then I dont like that.

Try Pad See Ew. Lovely flat noodles stir fried with broccoli. Every Thai place I have visited have always asked how spicy I want the food. Pad See Ew is not normally served spicy at all. I like to order it with shrimp as the protein.

That seems an interesting problem that the UK have not the own local food. Maybe "foreign" means uncommon.

Uncommon may be a better word :) for that I'd say Korean, the fermented taste of kimchi is really different for me, and the like the dishes that are cooked in a stone bowl.

I like falafels best and then onion bhajis...

This food is from which country?

in reply to ohme

Hi there, falafels are from the Middle East and onion bhajis are an Indian dish. I buy mine in a local shop...

The UK does have some very original foods like Haggis from Scotland, Cornish pasties, Lancashire hot pot, strawberries and cream to name a few.

In my travels, I also like to try regional specialties. When I'm in the South (US), love to eat collard greens, candied yams, hush puppies, fried catfish, etc. When I'm in a city with a Chinatown, I like to go for Dim Sum for lunch.

Couldn't help noticing this alluring thread.
