Welcome to the group. First of all if your cholesterol is 6.4 , it is not very high. So don't worry on that score. Do you know lipid profile ? Can you post your lipid profile ? That is more important than total cholesterol only. Overall certain change in life style can benefit you. Reduced carbohydrate in diet. No sugary drinks. No packaged food. No refined flour. Plenty of green vegetables, fruits in diet. No smoking and alcohol only in very moderation. These are few life style changes along with some physical activity eg. Walking will benefit you enormously.

Thank you I did not know about Lipid Profile so I will check when I check it again.Did not realise alcohol effects this oh oh .Thank you for taking the time to reply to me .C x

As age advances cholesterol is also bound to increase and it's protective

Trials have seen inverse trend of increased cholesterol and mortality

Just ensure that refined products. Sugars . Packaged stuff ans oils are avoided

Healthy fats needed for increasing HDL . Nuts like walnuts, Flax seeds. Butter . Ghee. Avocado should be added to daily food intake

All the best

the trials showing inverse correlation between cholesterol and mortality were of poor quality and have not been replicated, so should not be considered as the basis for health advice.

Also the absolute level of HDL is not as important as the total cholesterol level and the LDL/HDL ratio.

I'm very concerned at the advice to increase HDL levels by taking butter and ghee. I realise that ghee is a culturally important food in certain countries but that doesn't make it healthy.

Not what you're looking for?
