Surprise: Recently I turned fifty, moved home... - Healthy Eating
Surprise
Hi highcole ,
You've had a few changes recently, and a belated Happy Birthday for your 50th. I hope you're settling into your new home now. I can see you're welcoming a new Life Phase, and the new decade is ahead, so I'd like to wish you the very best with regard to all your wishes, and would like to Welcome you to the Healthy eating forum. There are some 'healthy eating' pages in NHS Choices which might be of interest, and a link is here if you'd like to have a look:

Wishing you a great week.

Thanks 😀 trying to eat healthy now.. and also trying to get a copy of my test results from my GP, but they are not very cooperative. Any idea how one can get a copy of their medical records from their GP or from the NHS?
Please get yourself thoroughly investigated. Congratulation for new house.
Hello Highcole. A good time to relocate as it will give you time to join the community.
I will repeat some guidance I have given before but I think it may be valid to you and that is to check out your general eating. Firstly get your sugar intake down as low a possible, that is added sugar. Avoid diet drinks as they often contain Aspartame which is worse than a little sugar. Go for whole foods and avoid white flour except for perhaps a treat at the weekend. Bread in particular is your staple but it must be 100% wholemeal and organic if possible. I make all the bread but first I recommend that you read an article at healthscams.org.uk/the-whit... then click the button for the recipe.
The next item we believe in strongly is whole unpasteurised milk; have a look on the Internet for a farm supplier near enough to you. This form of milk will keep well for eight or nine days in a refrigerator at 3°C which cannot be said for supermarket milk. Another read: healthscams.org.uk/milk.html.
I don't want to bore you so the last thing I'd say is avoid the polyunsaturated oils and spreads like the plague; saturated fats and butter etc., contain all the good things you need. One more read: healthscams.org.uk/saturate....
Add plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit with a little meat and fish and you won't go far wrong. We are 82 and 86 respectively, we walk twice a week and are not on any regular medication.
One last point stay well away from any statin medication that may be suggested by your new G.P.
Enjoy your meals, we do.
Hi Tibbly,
The reason I refer to the NHS site frequently, is because it is 'connected' with the Healthy Eating forum - if you look at the 'contact us' information it links to the NHS Choices Healthy Eating pages - and all the information on the NHS Choices website. I've always believed it to be a great resource personally, and have been thankful that they set up this Healthy Eating forum, using Healthunlocked as a platform.
The Administrator called 'TheEditor' is (I think) a member of NHS Choices, so maybe you could get in touch with him if you are concerned about any information in the website?
I always think the information in NHS Choices is useful, and am shocked to be asked by an Administrator not to refer to it!!!
Of course, people may have views about information within the site, but surely the whole point of the set up of this forum was related to NHS Choices.

Hello Zest. The first thing I want you to know is that although my name still seems to carry the badge "Administrator" I resigned from the position last weekend.
The NHS gets its advice and recommendations from Public Health England -PHE which is in turn is advised by the SACN - Scientific Advisory Committee of Nutrition. The SACN has twenty-three members and only six have no vested interests; Unilever, Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola, Nestlé, Kraft Heinz, Mars and Sugar Research all have some connection via the various professors and advisors. Can you really feel confident in any advice given by people with a vested interest?
The advice about saturated fats has long been said to be wrong and even now that the BMJ has come out with it as a stated fact the PHE still don't want to believe it. I know, I've been in touch with them over it.
The late Surgeon Captain T.L. Cleave FRCP condemed the polyunsaturated oils and fats many years ago stating that they were not natural foods for man. There are many members of the medical profession who support his hypothethsis but, of course, this in not commercial.
Lastly I want everyone to know that I NEVER give my opinion and I can always provide a reference for anything I say.
I will be sending you a PM in a few minutes, Tibblington . Please look for it.
Sent the PM right now. Please check.
