Trail Bread.

It took two attempts but it turned out ok in the end.

The recipe for a 675g loaf

Water 175 ml

Milk 90 ml

vegetable oil 3 tbsp.

honey 3 tbsp.

salt 1 1/2 tsp

bread flour 350g

wholewheat flour 150g

yeast 2 1/4 tsp

trail mix 100g (nuts, raisins etc)

I used a baking machine, just follow the wholewheat programmes in your user manual.

Sorry if the picture isn't on properly it seems to rotate when I put it on.

Hi Hidden ,

Wow, your Trail bread looks amazing, and I can imagine it was extremely tasty!!! The addition of those nuts and raisins etc - that would make it extra yummy.

You inspired me to bake, I don't think I would have managed to do it without knowing you were doing it too - so thank you so much!

I shall collate the bakes done so far into a fresh post and see if we can inspire others to follow with a bit of a 'bake-off'. :-)

I'll do that post this evening, when I have a bit more time.

Enjoy your bread, and wishing you a great afternoon.

Zest :-)

It tasted pretty good if I say so myself.

I think we have inspired each other on this, I want to do it more often now 😊 so thank you too.

Good idea I'll try to get on later to have a look.

Thanks and enjoy your day πŸ˜€

Do you find baking bread therapeutic? I do, very much so. Even thinking about it makes me happy! I think it's the handmade element that appeals!

β€’ in reply toRuby8

Yes the creative part of it gives a sense of achievement I think and it does help a lot :)

I agree with you entirely since I took over the bread making from my wife about a year ago. There is something about the feel of the dough and then the hot bread when it comes out of the oven. We haven't bought bread for thirty years.

Even the smell of it baking is amazing, makes the home feel cosey if you know what I mean.

This looks like a really rich tasty bread. Now try making ordinary every day bread from 100% wholemeal flour. Just flour, yeast, salt and water. I was a little worried about the vegetable oil content, I just hope it was olive oil and not rape seed or sunflower or even any of the other seed oils. If you knew the process for making them you would be shocked. Have a look at: healthscams.org.uk/the-trut...

By the way bread tasts better when cooked in the oven than in a machine. I always know machine baked bread immediately I taste it.

Let's see more of your good work.

I use a machine because I have problems with my hands, couldn't do the kneading without a machine.
