Thanks for your reply. I understand the point you are making, however the reason I dont eat vegetables is that I hate the taste and smell of them. Can you imagine forcing yourself to eat something that smells and tastes awful.
thank you for taking the time to help me with this problem. I do try to include vegetables that I can eat into my diet. Is there a substitute to potatoes that I could try. I eat a lot of potatoes and feel that I should try to reduce.
The answer is sweet potatoes, celeriac, rice and pasta.
As with regards to veg, has this always been the case, there are so many too, I'm not great with pulses, I do try to find recipes to get over this. I'm thinking maybe it's more sown to a bad experience,
Blending them and adding spices might helps?
Thank you for your advice. I will try this

Hi. I was diagnosed pre diabetic 2 months ago. Joined this forum and was advised to get a great book. Dr Michael Mosley, 8 Week Blood Sugar Diet. All about eating your way out of the diabetic range. It explains and answers a lot of your questions and suggests some great recipes that may help you. Get book from EBay or Amazon. Under £6 and worth every penny. Also keep reading and posting on this forum to get great help and support. Keep believing! I've lost 10lb to date and upped the excercise, got an excellent York Cross Trainer from eBay so if weather bad can still get the walks and cycling in. The cost of that was less than a months gymn subscription! Good luck.
Have you tried sweet potatoes and butternut squash? I bake them under some chicken pieces and just love that meal. I also discovered that quinoa, cooked in chicken stock, is really delicious. Veggies are really good for you, so it would pay real dividends if you can keep experimenting and find some you like - what about sweetcorn? How about those sweet baby tomatoes? How about disguising things like onions and celery in a stew? I've had to re-train my taste buds to lose weight because I'm not fond of dark green veggies, but it's paid off...
No vegetables whatsoever?!?
As a vegetarian, I can't imagine what you're eating, but suggest cutting out all processed food completely, if you want to feel healthier.
Try blending those you dislike least into soups, it might alter the taste, & will also fill you up for longer. Also, try eating pulses which are filling.

Try adding veg to dishes with a strong taste like curry or a chilli. This will hide the taste for you.
My mother died of diabetic complications. It probably cut short her life by 10 years. In the latter years she had problems with her vision and pains in her legs. It is a nasty disease and don't be kidded that medication is the solution.
Just be thankful that you have an opportunity now to overcome this but you will have to make changes. Don't look back in 20 years time and say to yourself "I really should have taken control of my lifestyle and diet years ago".
Hi Phil, sorry for your loss. I acknowledge the truth in what you are saying. I am conscious that I am one of the lucky ones who have had a warning and intend to do all I can to reverse this condition.
Good luck.
I know that you wrote that you don't like vegetables. I have just made this simple salad that explodes with flavours in the mouth.
1) Cut half a cucumber into slices. Then halve or quarter each slice.
2). Slice about 12 cherry tomatoes in half.
3) Add a small clove of fresh minced garlic (I like the after taste of garlic but you may wish to leave this out or replace garlic with chives or mild red onion).
4) Sprinkle some sea salt.
5) Pour in some extra virgin olive oil.
6) Pour in some tamari (soya sauce if you prefer).
7) Add a touch of balsamic vinegar (optional).
8) Mix it all together.
9) Enjoy.
Thanks Phil, it does sound tasty. Will give it try,
Have you considered blending your vegetables with your sauces for pasta/rice dishes for example? Good Luck...you are at least asking for suggestions...sometimes it really is difficult sorting out a menu!!
Hi customer, thanks for your post. I will try introducing veg into sauces etc. For the first time in my life, I am having to consider what I can eat, I am sure I will get the hang of it.
You will have to start preparing vegetables some way u will like them .are u Vegan? Whats ur bloodtype
Hi Lucy, I am not vegan and my blood type is O rh neg.
Ok You need alot of protein ....and make ur veggies with palatable sauces and or salad dressings and spices so your food is fun and tasty
You should eat alot of legumes and high protein veggies. ORGANIC !! SOUPS ARE A GOOD ALTERNATIVE TO WHOLE AND SMALL AMOUNTS OF RAW JUICES...MAKE THEM TASTE GOOD WITH BEETS AND CARROTS ,AND MAKE FRUIT JUIC3S SEPARATE FROM THE VEGGIES
I don't know what kind of veggies you already eat, but here is my suggestion. There are cookbooks, and online recipes, aimed at parents trying to feed kids veggies. But I've been told it's also great for adults who don't like veggies either. You can hide veggies (grated carrot, grated eggplant) in a bolognese sauce, veggies in burgers, and as suggested by another person in sauces, curries... Though you don't need only strong tasting sauces, chilli sauces etc to disguise ure veg Unless you're adding a lot. You can make mild tasting dishes that can still hide the vegetable flavour. Try the three coloured fresh pasta made with veggies. Do you think you'd like feta cheese & spinach pitta (pie)? My mum adds only one third of the feta, 2 thirds ricotta, and spinach or other greens which have been cooked down in a pan with some oil & garlic. The strong feta dominates the flavour so it doesn't seem too spinachy if you only add a little of the greens. Some people put loads of spinach which can put others off spinach pitta, but I say make the balance of the taste the cheeses, at least in the early days. And it's all baked in pastry so ... yum. When you start trying recipes, perhaps start with only a bit of veg until your system accepts the taste without issue. As you acquire the taste for veggies add more till you reach the amount recommended by the recipes. So the key is to only add a small amount of veg to start with, otherwise you'll find your meals too unappealing to eat if the veg is overpowering for your tastebuds. It's a long term change, so no rush.
I see that you mentioned you do eat some vegetables but I hope you eventually do learn to love all veggies as much as I do... Well... at least learn to tolerate them. 😊
Hope I've been of some help,
Cheers.
Hi Vic, thank you for taking the time to post the above. Some good suggestions which I will try out.
As for me the first step you should do - increase the quantity of water you usually drink. It may help you to love vegetables
Ferrous sulphate, chelated magnesium, D3 in the winter.
Carbs turn to sugar if thats all u are eating you wi) be gaining and raise the sugar . Tou must have veggies and protein and go on low carb regime, eat good carbs in small amounts
