Hello.... I would love some help :)

I really don't think I am eating anything right, or getting in what my body needs. I have spent a lot of time this year in and out of hospital along with 4 months being bed bound. This is all due to having severe osteoarthritis in my left knee. I should stay I am also getting over a really nasty stomach bug that is lingering... I can still only eat small amounts of food, little and often. It's ok my gp is fully aware of my situation.

I have gone off lots of foods... This is what I don't like to eat .... Meat, eggs, fish, onions, milk, yogurt, ... So you see getting the right nutrients/foods that will help me I am having bother with. Oh yes and I have anemia too... So running daily on empty does not help either.

My GP told me to eat chocolate for energy and high calories ... They are not overly bothered about weight .... I am!! An increase of weight will not be good for my knee, as I feel the only reason I am able to walk on it now is due to the recent weight loss. So I am looking for a healthy balance, and to get better!

I would appreciate anything you can suggest that you may think will help :)

Thank you.

Hi I'm 46

I'm 25 stone, I had gastric sleeve op 2010 and lost 10 stone, I plateaued 2yrs ago.

I'm really suffering with pain in all my joints especially as I've got hypermobility but I also had full hysterectomy last year due to endo womb cancer but can't take hrt so hormones all over place.

Was put on morphine for pain in Feb and suffering really constipated, I eat only multiseed bread, crackers, brown rice, as white carbs cause me bad reflux stopping me being able to swallow food.

I eat as many veg as I can get I a meal, I tend to favour veg meals as meat sometimes is a struggle to get down and I do chew really well!

Potatoes are a big no no I can't eat them at all they're main cause of reflux.

I have as an example

Breakfast

3 richtea 2 oat biscuits with coffee

Mid morning

Blueberry yoghurt with coffee

Lunch

3 riveta pumpkin or multi seed crackers with Brussels pâté

Evening meal

Steamed veg (peas, cauli, broccoli, sweet corn) with instant cheese sauce

Supper

2rich tea 1 oat biscuit and coffee (to take night meds)

In cold weather I throw every veg possible into slow cooker with buck wheat and eat that for lunch and evening meal.

I don't have much fat in my diet as don't have many sandwiches if I do it's olive spread, or I use seeded wraps with salad in and if I do omelette for a change I use olive oil but it's maybe monthly.

Please can you give me some ideas to help ease constipation aswell as healthier idea's for loosing weight if possible

Thankyou

I'm not a nutritionist but that does not sound like a very healthy diet. You should definitely cut out all the biscuits and you shouldn't be having caffeine at night time.

You should look at introducing more protein, especially with you evening meal. If you don't like meat try fish or vegetarian proteins such as beans and lentils.

Brussels pate is fatty and you are not having any fruit or veg with your lunch. The cheese sauce is also not likely to contain many nutrients. But it will be the 8 biscuits a day which are full of sugar which are probably doing the most damage.

To ease constipation you should include more fibre in your diet. Perhaps some whole grains and some fruit.

I don't eat a lot of meat and my diet looks something like this:-

Breakfast:-

Low fat yoghurt and fruit with flaxseed sprinkled on it or poached eggs with mushrooms on wholemeal toast

Lunch:-

Greek salad or jacket potato with baked beans and salad

Dinner:-

Vegetarian bean chilli with wholegrain rice or baked fish with new potatoes and steamed vegetables - I make my own tartar sauce with low fat yoghurt

Snacks:-

Fruit, hardboiled eggs, light laughing cow triangles, cherry tomatoes

I also have the odd treat like a glass of wine or a meringue after dinner.

I drink decaf tea and coffee and lots of water

I have lost on average a pound a week over the last three months.

Good luck!

To ease constipation, drink at least 8 glasses of water and have more fat in your diet.

500g of carbs is epic, can you give an example of what your are eating?

Before slightly changing my diet I was having 6 weetabix for breakfast along with 400ml of milk

Actimel inner defence

Tortilla wraps filled with meat etc for lunch along with a yoghurt

2 large chicken breast fillets

100-150 grams of pasta for dinner along with another two yoghurts

435 grams of chicken and bacon pasta for an evening snack

This is not always the case of 500g of carbs but it's usually above the 390g mark easily
