Not only does Tapping have BIG benefits for people with PTSD, but it even holds its own against other well-known, effective treatment options like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)!
You can find u tubes on tapping. Also an app called Tapping Solution on your phone. You can try the free version, or do the paid.
Here is the study. I thought this may be helpful to someone. :)))
Thank you for this article. I love research studies. I'm very data driven.
I've never tried tapping. I have watched videos and I find it very calming to see someone preform this technique.
The article made me think of something I do that is very soothing. I like to sit in rocking chairs. You sparked my memory. I've been doing this since I was young. I'm thinking this is a form of self soothing
We do have posts on EFT (tapping) but it is great to have more recent content.
I do tapping a bit with my therapist in addition to somatic experiencing method.
I agree about talk therapy not being enough for me.
Here is a quote from the above article that really resonates with me:
"Body-based interventions for PTSD
While research supports the use of talk-oriented therapies in the treatment of trauma, the clinical advantages of bringing somatic elements into rehabilitation are increasingly being recognized. Van der Kolk originally proposed that the changes in biological responses noted after trauma indicated that trauma may be stored as a bodily memory, suggesting that treatments should utilize somatic interventions (van der Kolk, 1994). Somatic approaches can target not only the muscles and fascia, but also the neurological correlates of trauma."
