I am glad you asked this question. I don't readily know the answer, but hopefully maybe somebody here can offer a good solution, because I would like to know also. I would like to offer that in the past I have done EMDR therapy for my PTSD and it seemed very helpful at helping me with the specific events my therapist and I worked on. Good luck to you.

I think it comes down - for me anyway - to knowing the signs ahead of the trigger moment.

To knowing when i am over focused or getting anxious/angry/agitated over anything.

To knowing that I need to take a 'time-out' (haha: not just solely for children!!!)

To knowing that sometimes the simple things in life will help me to become grounded once again and to be able to then reorientate myself.

Best tips:

Getting into the great outdoors for some fresh air.

Taking a bath.

Listening to some calming music.

Another walk in the outdoors, some river water or ocean waves to fulfil the soul....

Eating well.

Avoiding anything at all times that will add to the trigger - be it the news, people, shopping in crowded places... or whatever resonates with you.

Perhaps, most of all. Get to bed early - I always believe in the saying, that one hour before midnight counts for two after midnight. I have been going to bed by 10pm since 2016, though in recent weeks this has lapsed and I do feel the negative difference.

Lastly - if you need to, put post-it notes up ... Remind yourself why you are important and what you need/want/desire/dream of.

And finally - don't isolate yourself for too long. If you can be out on a walk and greet someone whilst on the walk, that is great. Avoiding others is not an answer in the long-term. But at the same time, we must pace ourselves (I feel), to allow ourselves to properly adjust and heal in accordance with what is going on in our lives 'right now.'

Sending Hope and Blessings to you.

SG.

Hi Geinki

I rely on meditation and exercise to help after a trigger. Both of these help clear my head.

I have had many years of therapy and I've done quite a bit of inner child work. Once I can clear my head a bit I use my IFS therapy to connect with my inner child's feelings and emotions.

Honestly though sometimes I like to just sit and cry. It's cleansing to listen to nature and shed the pain through my tears.

❤️🐬

I'm doing ok, thank you for asking. I use the app Inside Timer. I have learned so much through guided meditation which teaches a lesson. This site provides so much information, has calming music and nature sounds etc to help relax the mind. It's worth a try:)

Just to also add, that I have found EFT helpful and also reflexology/aromatheraphy. Both were like taking a healing bath.... so anything that helps relax/generate healing vibes is always going to be good :) <3
