A quick hello from me

Hey :)

My names Liz, and I'm from Germany. I'd love to tell you interesting things about me but I feel that I am kinda boring 😅😅

Well what I can tell you ist that I love reading/writing books, I love Vaulting (that's gymnastics on a horse) and I enjoy coffee way to much (or so my family says😅)

So... Why am I here?

I'm not so sure yet myself. I had recently started a trauma exposure therapy, and it had been going quite okay, but then it just got too much and (my other symptoms got to much, I have problems with bulimia and ocd) and I impulsively quit therapy... I'm not sure if I regret it now. *trigger warning* My brother, who caused some of my traumatic experiences, is able to come home(I still live with my parents) at any time and I am really scared about it, since my parents don't understand what happened and that it's not good for me too see him. I don't know how to deal with this situation...

So... Yup that's already a lot... 😅

I hope I didn't trigger /annoy /bore anyone with this

I'd be really happy about some feedback or response,

Liz 😘

Welcome Liz,

I hope you hang around for a while. There are a lot of people here from all around the world all dealing with different forms of trauma. I find it helpful to not feel alone. I hurt my hand so typing is difficult. I will be in a splint for 3 more weeks so I will have to make it short for now.

I am glad you are here.

Welcome Lisa, I am in Ontario, Canada! I'm curious you love reading/writing books. Are you an an author? Could you tell us a little about your books! How wonderful! What sort of writing do you enjoy?

Your anxiety with regards to seeing your brother is understandable. What other supports do you have to support you (ie friends?) I am sure your therapist understands how the type of therapy could trigger you, perhaps you could return at some point. The path of trauma recovery is difficult to manage on our own.

This is a wonderful community of resilient individuals with a wealth of personal insight and experience and a willingness to listen, encourage, uplift and inspire each other as we journey together along our respective paths of recovery.

I am a published writer of articles, no books as of yet.

Welcome to this community. As has already been said, there are so many supportive and experienced people here. They’ve probably heard it all. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

Welcome to our group this is a safe place we’ve all been through different experiences and we appreciate you Sharing your authentic self

This is your life this is your body this is your mind if you think therapy would help great go do that find someone who does help you

if you don’t think it helps and you can do it by yourself then do it by yourself just know that you only have one body and the abuse

that you suffered you did not deserve and it’s not your body‘s fault and you don’t need to take it out on your body

you deserve to have a wonderful life nourishing food and I know that a lot of us denied our bodies food or kind of wanted to disappear in someways but just know that you deserve to eat and that you deserve to have nourishing food and you deserve to do whatever it takes to have a healthy body

the person that did this to you he’s related to you but you could always call the police you could tell your parents or have someone help you do that

you have a lot of choices you could find a support group with others that are experiencing what you are and Just know that we’re here

don’t miss your life and You don’t have to live in the same place that he lives he could live somewhere else you could live somewhere else you have a lot of options

so I hope that you start treating your body well because you deserve all that is good it’s not you or your body‘s fault

we’ve all felt like that in some ways a little while but just know that you have your whole life in front of you and you can make good choices and it’s easy to get caught up

but just know when you punish your body this is a reaction to the way you feel about what happened to you but that’s not the way to get rid of how you feel you can create art you go for walks

Sometimes therapists are very book smart but they’re not life smart some of them have never experienced anything so it can be very frustrating but some of them can be very helpful it just depends but this is your life and do whatever you need to do to stay safe to stay protected and you have a lot of options

and I hope that you think of what will make your life happy and what will help you move forward

take care I’m glad you’re here keep sharing with us

Without you knowing it, Beingindependent, your reply to Lisa has really helped me out just now. It was your reference to book smarts and lived experience. I find myself in a very deep struggle and broke my own silence to myself and others that I am not doing as well as I allow others to believe. Thank you so much for such an insightful and encouraging reply to Lisa.

I’m glad I helped you. What I wrote to Lisa I reread it a couple times too because I think that sometimes we have more compassion for our expression to others then we do for ourselves so I’m glad I could help you and having her share her experience help me share my experience and then helped myself

Hello. Boring would be good, I think. We didn't all get here by living safe and quiet lives. Could you take a vacation away from home when the brother goes to your home? It is sad that your parents don't understand the threat of seeing a person who harmed you. Do they know that it is a cause of your symptoms? Anyway, Welcome! There is a lot of support here.
