Thank-you for that Freeandalive. I am trying to fight off a cold, so your words are encouraging. Happy Christmas.

You are very welcome Sherry44! I've been fighting sickness since Thanksgiving. I haven't wrapped the first present and have only bought my grandson's gifts. I had "it" then my hubby got "it" and I felt better for all of two days and "it" returned! So I'm back on antibiotics and cough syrup and prednisone trying to clear up bronchitis and creepy crud. Hubby is on antibiotics too so hopefully we will run the creepy crud out of our house and stay healthy for the New Year! Hope you feel better! Have a wonderful rest and Christmas....:)

Hi freeandalive that's my motto one day at a time!! Trying to keep my PTSD at bay as it's been jumping all over the place just now! Had to go to dentist last week with a swollen face ( big trigger on its own ) he gave me antibiotics tooth has to come out on 4the January!! Had to go back two days later couldn't open my mouth had to get abscess drained ouch!!! Family triggered me big time on Monday PTSD went through the roof ended up screaming at them and banging the front door!!!! I'm quite a patient person most of the time!!! The joys of PTSD !!! Have a good Christmas !!! Xxx

Hi Colliedogs4me,

I feel you. If people only understood what "trigger" means and what it does to us physically. They don't have to stop being themselves, but if they could just UNDERSTAND how it is so involuntary and sneaks up on us at times out of nowhere, they may at least be more compassionate towards us when it happens. I hope your mouth feels better. Dentist-trigger-totally get it....

Have a wonderful day today!

Thankyou freeandalive you really got it in one! They have no idea how we feel when we get triggered, they can see mum is angry or crabby but it doesn't dawn on them what they had just said has caused it!! I have tried explaining and all I get" we were only joking or it was just banter!!!" My mouth is a lot better tonight thankyou! The swelling has gone down further!! Take care xxx😊

Thank you so much, freeandalive1.

I want to feel like everything is going to be all right...holidays are stressful and triggering for me. Thank you for sharing support...

You are welcome, Nathalie99. We PTSD sufferers often have to breathe and take ourselves to a place of calmness through meditation/visualization to remind ourselves that we are indeed ok. Thinking of myself being in the hands of someone much greater than myself allows me to inhale and exhale and let go of my anxiety for the moment. We PTSD survivors know anxiety but during the holidays anxiety can be exacerbated so we may have to revisit our calm places more often than usual. I know I have been having to do that this season more than I usually do....and it is ok.

Merry Christmas, Nathalie99 and Happy New Year!

Love this pic. Very good metaphorical visual. It's what I visualize when I want to remind myself that God/Source/Universe has me in the palm of His/Her "hands."

Beautiful picture ... thank you for sharing. Could you tell me where it was taken? Also, I am on the Action on Depression forum as well. I was wondering with your permission if I could share it there please? So many folks there are suffering and we as group try to take care of one another. To me, your picture exemplifies that wonderfully.

Best wishes 🌲

I got it off line...not sure where it was taken....it is at a beach somewhere. You may certainly share it. I just love the visual of childlike resting in hands that are BIG enough to hold me......

Merry Christmas!
