I called my doctor and he referred me to a doctor who does TMS. I think being proactive about all of this will help my options in the long run. I did my research and I think for me it seems like the best thing since I for some reason cannot take an anti - depressant without it making me worse. That makes my choices limited so I think not wearing out the medications I can take and trying other sources of help in conjunction should help prolong my chances of feeling better. This is if it works. I like to be realistic because there is always a chance this won't do anything. I will never know if I don't try. Now waiting for a call back to make the appointment .... the fun part lol
TMS Therapy: I called my doctor and he referred... - Heal My PTSD
TMS Therapy
I did TMS for 6 weeks, 3 to 4 days a week. I did have positive results but I know it's different for everyone. I was basically pretty non-functional & did it as a last resort. Did the treatments 1-1/2 years ago & the nightmares & flashbacks never returned. Depression lifted considerably. I was also able to go back to work & either discontinue or decrease medications. I'm not totally cured of PTSD, but it did help me to start functioning again & get my life back. My only complaint was the expense. I didn't have insurance coverage & am still paying it off ($20,000.00). I did have the side effect of extreme fatigue after a treatment & would nap for a couple hours but other than that, no complaints. The U.S. Military has been using this for several years on soldiers & if you've done the research, you know there are no guarantees. Hope it goes well for you. Good luck.
As far as I know, I'm the only person on this forum that has done TMS. I'd be curious to see what your experiences are with it. If I'm not being too nosey that is. But I've never had anyone else to discuss it with.
