The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk MD is a pivotal book for me in my recovery. He speaks compassionately about trauma and shows the reader through science and examples of his patients that it IS absolutely possible to heal. Its a "must read."

I love compiling resources -- thanks for posting about this! You'll be happy to know that I recently interviewed Dr. van der Kolk for my radio show. The interview will air in March -- we talked all about the new book, plus what he feels is the #1 element/key to healing. I'll share the link here when it's available.

Oh my gosh yes his book is great! I only wish I had bought a hard copy of kindle version because listening to it on audible I wanted to bookmark so many things I had bookmarks every 30 seconds! I am definitely going to listen again. He really helped me not feel crazy.

Yes! ;) Endorsing Bessel is in no way an affront to Michelle and her work. Bessel has his own niche which is a different niche than Michelle's, in my opinion.

When I give out a name to someone wanting immediate help, in addition to whatever they can or cannot find IRL, I give them links to Michelle's work.

I have repeatedly given hundreds of people dealing with PTSD (and their loved ones) links to Michelle's work/offerings over the past three years! I have endorsed her work on major health forums, have placed introductions to Michelle, along with links to her work in email communications/newsletters, which go out to hundreds of members, etc. I have younger nieces and nephews in the military and they each know where to find Michelle, too.

Michelle is more available, her offerings more readily educational, interactive and supportive on a more personal level.

We need specialists in all of the various niches, addressing the various impacts and many nuances involved in trauma research, education, care and in personal recovery.

Each Michelle and Bessel, as well as others, are gifts unto each of us, and unto the world! :)

I just received my copy of the hardback edition last night and I'm half way through, The Body Keeps The Score. An excellent read and found myself in numerous pages already.

Now I only wish there was a website which pertained to Developmental Trauma Disorder rather than only PTSD. It's clear to me this is what I have rather than PTSD.

PTSD is a great help and yet there's much more to my picture than PTSD.
