I went to see a film called 'identity theft' yesterday and it was spoiled for me because every time the criminal/fraudster wanted to fake illness she said 'oooh aww my fibromyalgia is agony now' no wonder we're considered fakers if Hollywood shows fibro as the easy to con illness
Cinema warning: I went to see a film... - Fibromyalgia Acti...

Oh no. That's all we need. It's bad enough we have this illness, we do not need to be made the butt of a bad joke and misrepresented. We should bomb it on Twitter!!!!!
This is what I feared when Morgan freeman announced he had it... All people will see is a famous star making films and think how bad can it be if he can make films..... Not realising he doesn't make films all the time and can have rests between takes.....

Yep. It was made out to be the new personal injury claim favourite
Seriously!!!! shame wonder how much a tv avert would be to advertise people that have got this horrible thing...really feel the word isn't getting out how much it make a person suffer and how much it ruins people's life...I've wanted my husband to help me stop the pain I hate living like this when I used ot be so active n happy
Yup. Trouble is I fear it's a double edged sword. The more we spread the word the more scroungers are likely to try it on I must admit I'd never heard of it before I was diagnosed. I don't know what the answer is. Maybe the medical teams need to find a definitive blood test.
Hi Suzy, yes you're completely right, it is a double edged sword and I am sure there a fair few people who use it and then get us real sufferers a bad name. Im not sure though, but I was lead to believe that although they do blood works, they can't actually diagnose it with a blood test, but I am open to being wrong. I understood that the trigger point test was a good indicator for the diagnosis, but I am ready to be proven wrong. Gentle hugs Foggy x
in regards to the above its disgusting since being ill since last yr ive had no break in pain and people to mock it makes me feel ill. suzy regards a blood test there is one that shows markers for fibro have a certain blood test(s) it always shows a weak positivite for lupus and another autoimmune disease, it also shows imflammortory rates higher than normal.
gentle hugs

I was told fibro doesn't show up on ESR & CRP. I was told my positive ana, ESR & CRP were due to my connective tissue disease not my fibro. Although my fibro causes most of the pain. How can we expect non-sufferers to understand when even the medical profession can't be consistent
Think it's just a matter of getting everyone aware of it that's going to be the main issue here , the more information out there the better , x
Yeah. Would be good if one message went out there. I'd hate the consultant I saw to lead a campaign as he believes fibro can be cured if the patient wants it enough...
suzy honestly can it be cured? i may sound dumb but my consultants say i gotta get on with it basically and try pain clinics impatient stay and sorry if my gps wrong about my previous statement . he honestly said it proves the that i have fibro my result is always weak positive should i challenge this then hun? i am 25 diagnosed last yr and quite new to it all so i just simply go with the docs and consultants.
everywhere i turn it all conflicts do u find this? x
kerry
I'm afraid I don't know Kerry. But from what I've read there is no cure at the moment. They can stabilise it to some degree with physio & meds but I haven't heard of anyone being cured
sorry suzy to hear that! least we have sites like this before i found this i felt really alone thanks 4 ur time suzy x
