Hello avarose, when I was a child my parents had an infrared lamp which they used, I then started having back problems but found the lamp too hot ( a sensitive little bud ). It always lived in a cupboard in my parents room. Fast forward 40 years to last October, my Father had died and I was required to be inferring his ashes, we stood through the very short (like 5 mins) service, and as the vicar was ending my back suddenly went into a massive spasm. I had to be carried out of the graveyard , to cut a long and boring story short, I ended up not being able to come home from Surrey to Devon, the only double bed left int the house was my fathers so I was in that room. I was going thought some of his things, you have to at these horrid times and so I opened the cupboard and there sitting in exactly the same place as 40 years ago was the infrared lamp, and I thought, well anything to help the back (I'd already taken Oramorph and diazepam to help release the spasm) so I set it up and wow, wow wow it was such a comfort, the heat I couldn't stand as a child was just fabulous. I still took me a fortnight before I could travel home to Devon, but I tell you the infrared lamp was one of the important things that came with me. So I completely understand. :-) :-)

I'm definitely buying one today. I have never given that a thought. It might work.

I use those pads for when I am travelling, you can buy them in the chemist, they are in a red box, you put them on and they heat up and then they stay warm - I find for up to 12 hours. Magic! Too expensive to use every day but I use them for long car journeys and air travel - wonderful. Also hubby's new car has a heated seat - oh what bliss!!!!! Also our local group goes to a health club that has a hot tub, sauna and steam room and we all find that helps.

I got my lamp on the internet, a 300 watt, you need a strong one to fight the Fibro .I use it in conjunction with a back massager with infrared heat, the lamp is on the table for face, hands, lego and the massager does my back. 3 or 4 sessions of 15 mins per day as required.I was taking citalopram but no longer need it. Just an occasional ibroprofen or paracetomol is all I need. Cant tell you how much better my life is now.
