hi EoH

well only since had to go through so much being passed around i started to piece my history together.

for me i was diagnosed with another problem too in April 2012 which i was born with and had it been spotted as a child maybe a lot could of been prevented! this is what my neurologist said.

I always been a bendy sort rite upto 40yrs old am now 43 and feel 83 and was so suprised finding this site and now do not feel alone as it has helped and i read like you about what some of us did before hand and how we were.

i was always the one with aches, pains, strains, dental, illnesses, hospitilised for weeks and months could rite a book now on it all.

operations for this that and other (which could of been prevented)

so yes

and where do you put the blame because no one knew.

i am definately burnt out lol thats for sure.

i was out for my sisters 40th they got me onto dance floor and am still suffering for sake of less than a songs dance i just stopped and said i cannot do it and am sorry. i sat down the rest of nite with my brother.

i was out last week too for a joint bday for hubby and one of my very close friends and i could barely walk one foot infront of other but this week was slightly easier. but now am still recovering!!

mine started majorly and has continued since May 2010 after a hernia operation and since then snowballed to now even having my hair washed and being looked after with household chores, but so long as i can potter round and get in the car to check on the business am happy as there is worse out there despite my suffering and our suffering on on here but we can all share our good and bad experiences.

Thank you everyone, it just made me think it because myself i was always active and always on the go from age 4, but always had problems with my knees from age 9, they said it was growing pains !!! surely i'm not still growing at age 44 lol.

Thank you guys and girls xxxx

Hi

I am not officially a fibromite as I have avoided the diagnosis as it seems to have a non-beneficial action so have just stuck with the arthritis etc.

To answer your question about being a 'Sporty' - I did do most martial arts when in my youth, i did Judo, Aikido, karate and I wanted to do Kendo but unfortunately there were no schools in the area. I loved them I would be at one or another seven days a week from when I was 19 ish. to 25 so That definitely did not help with my wrecked Skeleton.

Take care and kindest regards

Terry

its not fair is it, lifes so unpredictable... makes me wonder if things would av turned out different if id been a couch pottatoe instead?? we will never know. We are dealt wat weve got and have no choice other than cope the best we can and do as much as we can, while we can. I havent accepted fibro yet, for some strange reason i still seem to think i'm going to wake up one day and be cured lol.

Takecare Terry

Thanks for your reply xx

I was very athletic when I was younger and even 4 and a bit years ago used to do 10 mile walks over fields etc for charity.

I used to do ballet, tap, modern and when I was out clubbing would hardly leave the dance floor.

I would be lucky to walk to 2 pubs now and I am only 42.

I have also just been diagnosed with hypermobility syndrome and awaiting results on Hughes syndrome too.

in reply tojom277

Ah, like me then i was the same. An avid swimmer from age 4 to 16. aswel as all other sports that i could get into. I used to go dancing from age 24 to 34 i too was never off the dance floor couldnt even stand still at the bar waiting to be served. I dont go out at all now, my feet wont allow heels lol. I did one night some years ago and because of the alcohol i suppose it masked the pain but the next 3 days i literally could not put my feet to the floor let alone walk on them. Ive not done it since, I dont drink now it has a detramental effect on me for days after.

Ive never heard of the hypermobility syndrome? good grief you seem like you are having a tough time.

I queried it because i though maybe it was being so active that wrecked my body to the point of no return, but fibro seems to take anyone and everyone regardless of their past..

Take care xx

I was going to mention HMS, but it's already come up :)

See here for info:

hypermobility.org/

Hypermobility is considered a risk factor for developing Fibro by some top experts.

IME quite a lot of sporty people, especially in certain sports that need flexibility - gymnastics, ballet, martial arts, etc - are hypermobile even if they don't have HMS.

To be honest when I was younger (37 now) I didnt do sport other than PE in school. My parent tended to wrap me up in cotton wool because I had diabetes. About 4 years ago I started a martial art and exercising several times a week and lost weight and gone down a couple of sizes. 18 months into this I started getting pain in the chest and legs etc 9 months later fibro was diagnosed.

I used to dance but I had this long b4 I also have underactive thyroid just had rods and screws in my spine iv had cancer I also have to have vitamin b12 injections as I was close to having a stroke and I'm severely anemic with low blood pressure I also had a lot of stress as an adult but mainly as a child went through bad stuff beatings mental abuse...Tec so I have a wide range of factors but it could be anything an none of those.

I wasn't what you would call 'sporty', but before the CFS/fibro I was very active - I would walk everywhere and used to ride horses for up to 4 hours a day 3 times a week. Re the emotional causes, I didn't have the happiest childhood for several reasons and grew up with very low self-esteem and quite timid towards my mid teens (which you would have some problem believing if you saw photos of me with Mohican, doc Martin boots and garish make up lol) As a reiki healer I totally believe that malaise that has origins in the emotional body will manifest in the physical body and I know that there are others on this site that will be of the same ilk

in reply tostormwytch

Oh my god, Storm we have so much more in common then lol. I neither had a great possitive upbringing, but i went the other way. I was far from quiet, I was an angry child and teenager.... WITH A Mohican lol, id colour it in art class in high school, green, pink which ever colour i could get my hands on lol, feather earings, Monkey boots and a black crombie coat !!! Skin tight jeans that i had drip bleached...in the bath.

I was awful, then i had my daughter when i was 18 and my whole world changed. I was so in love with my beatiful baby girl.. I literally changed over night, i was so calm, and as she grew i was such a push over, ive never had to smack my children. I vowed to do everything opposite to my parents, and so glad i did.

My 2 have never brought me any trouble, they are both very loving, well ajusted and kind adults now. I too look so different to my younger years lol.

Just wish i was still as fit and healthy..

Haha I remember the bleached jeans in the bath look. It's great to hear about your kids. I don't have any (unless you count the 32 year old comic book fan/geek bf) but am planning to give up work to foster next year. It will also give me more time to spend with my lovely Jerry as I don't see him during the week but my bbf looks after him. I'm still alt/goth/hippy/rock chick depending I what mood I'm in lol x

in reply tostormwytch

Haha, Some ppl frown for having kids so young, I was 18. But im so glad i did it changed me for the better. Hell knows what id be doing now if i had stopped on the path i had been on. being so angry is not good for you or anyone else that crossed my path lol Im sure i would have gone on to be in big trouble if i had not calmed down when i did.

So having my daughter was the best thing for me, I went back to college too to provide a better life for her and myself, dont get me wrong i still have that streak in me, only i learnt to see things different rather than just lash out. Ive had a few sticky moments at school with parents of kids who thought they could use my daughter as a punch bag, lol big mistake...

My moto was, everytime your child hits my daughter i will come and hit u !!! suprisingly it didnt take long for other parents to catch on and after a few times of following through with my advise as to what i would do it stopped lol

Of course kids argue, im all for that it learns them to be who they are but I would never allow anyone to hit my kids when they were over the age of 11. By that age they are old enough to know better. Good luck with the fostering, being a mum weather its just mum or foster mum, its the best and most rewarding job ive ever done.

Never been sporty - just wish I could swim as for sure that is supposed to help fibros. In the early years mine was diagnosed as secondary fibro because it started soon after an accident. It has even been noted that fibro can be caused through trauma which may not necessary be at the time of a trauma happening to you. At least now it is more recognised now years back doctors would not accept it. x
