Yup not good I am afraid for me, but great for my family, it caused uncontrollable jaw spasms , couldn't talk or open my mouth and it happened many , many many times a day, by the end of a week all the muscles in my neck were sore my teeth were sore and I was fed up of not being able to talk or eat properly, went back to GP and he took me off them immediately , tried me on seroxat, same thing happened, have been on dosulepin now for nearly two years, not a single problem and I sleep at night .
Sorry I can't be more positive

Thanks for the reply V-G, my teeth are sore enough at the moment, I've not come across dosulepin, I'll talk to my GP about it,

All the Prozac types of drug can suit some people very well, and upset others terribly.
I couldn't get on with them at all, they made me sick and I felt really weird. I now take Dosulepin and find it very good indeed.
The reason why Prozac drugs have become popular is that they work very quickly, whereas the older type of tricyclics take between one and three weeks to ease depression and anxiety.
They do, however, have an immediately sedative effect which helps to relieve pain, and most people I know who have taken them have been very happy with their treatment

I have had them in the past and not done very well with them. Then I was put on Dosulepin, not good. Now I am back to trying the AMitriptyline again to see how I get on with them. I hope they do okay for you xxxxx
I'm on amitrips and fluoxetine and they work great but I had 6 weeks of awful side effects to start with! Now I'd be lost without them, I used to go 36 hours between sleeps at least once a week now I sleep most nights unless I'm in a flare. Like the other fibromites say it'll work for some not others best of luck, soft hugs Leese x
Prozac/Fluoxetine is an SSRI, so isn't usually prescribed for Fibro itself. The anti-depressants used for pain management usually are those that work on more than just serotonin.
My husband has been on flueoxotine for about 3 and half yrs now for chronic depression, he's not back to his previous self, but copes better with daily life, two kids aged 8 and 12 and still manages to be my carer! Myself I'm on dueloxotine and this was recommended by the pain consultant for both my fibro and severe depression, after tryin about four previous antidepressants, I've been on it for 12 mths now, was feeling good, but recently my comlex PTSD has worsened significantly, so I'm thinking of speaking to my CPN. Hope this helps in some way xx
