Staggering slowly home from taking little one to school with my lovely doggy, i passed the local corner shop. Thought it would be nice to cook OH a nice meal when kids are in bed for just us, you know the sort of thing quality time and all that. So, leaving doggy outside i went in and bought his favourite bottle of wine praising myself for being so thoughtful.I pay for the wine, put it in a bag and off i go.
Just got outside the shop and while transferring the bag from one hand to the other, i dropped it....wine everywhere!!! Luckily the bag contained all the broken glass so after rescuing my shopping and cutting myself i managed to cram the bag into a rubbish bin, i would hate to think of a pet or little one hurting themselves. So, while the dog is trying to get bladdered on the wine on the floor i trooped back inside with my reaking shopping and explained what i had done. I picked another bottle of wine off the shelf and in doing so created a domino rally effect with all the bottles in the front row wobbling. I tried to stop it but it was too late and 2 bottles fell off the end of the shelf breaking and spilling glass and wine everywhere!
I couldnt apologize enough and the lady behind the till was helping me wipe down the shopping while her elderly dad cleaned up the mess i had made. So, now ive had to pay for 4 bottles of wine and came home with one! I was so embarassed and wont be going in there again in a hurry....think i should just go back to bed and stay there til tomorrow......the dog looks happy though!!!! Charlii xx

Hello Charlii, oh my goodness what a day for you! I can imagine how you felt and all through having a wonderful idea for you and hubby. Rotten luck that you had to pay for an accident though, it wasn't your fault the other two bottles domino-ed. Poor you! I hope your lovely idea comes to fruition later on and hubby appreciates the nightmare you had planning it all for him.
You deserve to have a lovely meal and special time with hubby, bless you! What a lovely thought too and so important for both of you to have some quality time, so easy to forget with having Fibro etc.
Wishing you a bit of peace and quiet and I hope you manage to have that special meal together later with your wine too. Word of advice though my dear, get hubby to pour it!
A wine box might be a good alternative, next time, charlii! xxx
Good idea Moffs but seriously, you poor thing, like Libs said I don't think you should have had a pay for the 2 that domino'd out of control, they should have stacked them better.
Apart from a very expensive bottle of wine, what else is planned.
on a serious note, it was lucky they sold it to you as they may have thought you drunk already and said you have had enough! My OH wont let me touch anything in shops as the domino effect happens to me all the time, not just with bottles He insists i go an sit on the chairs at the front of the store
Had you have gone to Tesco (Or similar) Im pretty sure the rule still applies, they would just replace the bottle for you and not charge, and any smashed in store they never ask for payment….. I haven't done it for a long while, like I say Im banned by my OH. i think I embarrass him as i drop everything!!
Hope the bottle you managed to rescue was nice and the dog wasn't too drunk xx
Update pn the romantic meal. Well i managed to cook checken breats with a gralic and herb filling wrapped in bacon with new pots, asparagus stc. Couldnt eat it as trignemial neuralgia is so bad i havent eaten anything solid for a week now so i had rice pudding for my meal! I couldnt drink the wine which turned out to be the most epensive wine i had ever bought what with paying for the breakages and dropping my first bottle. Then the laptop started buzzing, it was my OH's new boss calling on skype from Canada (hubby is moving out there in a couple of weeks permantely for work) so he had to go and talk to him. So there i was sitting on my own at the table whrn the pain in my face struck again severely, so i ended up on all my strong painkillers and was therefore a zombie on the sofa when he eventually got off skype!
Oh well, the thought was there i suppsoe ! Charlii xx
