Just had a phone call from the Dr who will be doing my assessment for DLA. He's coming tomorrow at 2 pm! Now I'm really scared! I've typed out how my life is affected by my various health problems I don't know if he will read it though.

I am not the best person to ask because I have never been asked for a medical for DLA, although I do get it. They will ask you about how your illness affects you, about your medication, about cooking, washing etc, if you need help doing things and may look at where your loo and bathroom are and at any aids you might have. Like a wheelchair, walking stick etc. If you can have someone with you for moral support it could help a lot.

I think the Benefits and Work website has some useful guides on DLA medicals if you get time to look.

Amanda, do you have the Benefits and Work info sheets on ESA and DLA. They contain lots of helpful information about completing forms, assessments and appeals etc.

hi can you pls send me the fact sheets i have had a letter saying i need a medical even though i have been getting higher rate mobilty and lower rate care for the last 3 yrs i had my medical for my esa and got turned down that is now gone to appeal so any fact sheets etc would be a great help do i need to e mail you ?

Thanks Libs I have these and have already filled forms etc.I have just gathered together all evidence and appointment letters,cards etc for the Dr to look at and will print out the sheet on how my health affects my life and hope that helps x
