Myofascial pain vs. Referred pain and other pains

Wow. I was looking up sleepiness from high blood pressure and fell onto this sight. The question I saw was regarding myofascial pain. Have I got info to share. I have had chronic pain for over 11 years now. You will be Amazed at what the cause of most of my pain was from for all these years. I have been to over 30 doctors and specialists, Cleveland Clinic, Neurological head and neck pain institute (waste of time) and several other fine establishments with such infinite wisdom bestowed upon me such as 'it's all in your head', bipolar, manic depressive, etc. only to find out that my head was literally knocked off my shoulders. Seriously. Your head should never be more than .75 off in either direction. Mine was off 2.89 inches. Almost 2.5 inches off. I had this procedure that was like a nail gun only it didn't hurt at all, that knocked my vertebrae back where they belonged. My head continued to fall out but never more than an inch. My pain doc finally talked me into a blood transfusion, also known as PRP therapy. If my research is correct, this is the therapy they use for race horses!! You can actually regenerate tendons and ligaments! Insurance does not cover this procedure. They say it's experimental. Well, i have proof that it works. This is the same procedure that many a professional athlete is going overseas to have done. How sad is that? My pain level has not been this low since my pain began. Of course I have subsequent problems with trigger points and those muscles that are the size of golf balls when used too much. So, the pain in my head, ears, eyes and face are actually only referred pain. Meaning, the reason I have face pain is not because I have a problem in my face. It actually comes from my trigger points in my right shoulder area. Work out those areas, the pain dispels from my face and other areas. It was thought that originally my pain was from teeth. Well, after loosing four teeth some genius decided that maybe my problem wasn't tooth pain! And the needles....... shew..... the stories I am sure we all can tell from some of the injections we have gotten. From the 7 inch needles in the neck to shoving through muscles tissue in different areas. I have had pharmacists and doctors galore tell me I would never get off narcotics because they are the 'only things' that will ever help my pain only to be med free today! My point being...... Never give up!! If you don't like the answers you are getting, keep looking. Someone has the answers you are seeking. One of my philosophies concerning pain doctors has always been if they are too busy to continue staying educated and learning something new every month then that doctor is not for me. The pain doctor that i go to now is out of the office at least three days a month and two weeks during the summer either teaching or learning. I have stood toe-to-toe with doctors that have told me when I come in with a list of questions that I need to pick my two or three most important ones because they don't have time to answer them all but yet they are accepting new patients!!?? What's up with that? Really? It's your life and your health. Take care of you and don't let these so called professionals back you in a corner! We all deserve the best possible care there is.

Hello

Nice to meet you and I hope you stay, it was me who wrote about myofascial pain

Very interesting the things you have explained, I'm not sure if mine is fibro or myofascial

Or both, it's just so stressful to go through these doctors and yes you are right

Problem is that most of the doctors don't care, I don't know if this is because

It is not life threatening, or because they think we are just neurotic, or maybe

They are worked to hard for there £100,000 a year I don't know I just wish some

One would do some more research,

It must cost the country lots of money as there are a lot of people who have fibro

Or myofascial that are disabled because of this, not to mention the cost of medication

And time off work me being one of these, don't think I can work much longer.

Please stay in this lovely forum all the people in here are nice and. Have lots to

Say you will be welcome and enjoy it, it's like having lots of friends who understand

Thank you again I found this all very interesting.
