how long does a dla appeal take
i had one 3 years ago took 18 months
what took it so long
There is no set time for an appeal, each case tends to vary. Some can take a few months, some sadly can take much longer as indicated by Linlit. There doesn't appear to be a reason for this which has made it very frustrating for so many people.
My first appeal took a month. Then I appealed against the appeal for tribunal, which took 11 months. Was told that there is a major backlog due to all the changes. At this time they said it would be still a 3 to 4 month wait unless I could show it was causing me hardship, luckily GP and social worker wrote letters. At tribunal, I won low rate care but was told to apply for suppression as care needs had increased and need a lot of home care support. That was July. Still waiting, even though I or my social work colleague phone up every 2 to 3 weeks.
Be prepared for a long wait. Same as everywhere else in public sector, too much work, not enough staff.
