I have recently been awarded a blue badge and have now had DLA forms to complete, have applied twice in the past and been turned down but just looking at these forms again is making me question if its even worth filling them out, really disheartened at the moment!!

Is it really worth applying for DLA?
That's how they want you to feel, don't give in,try giving a fresh claim, they don't like to backpay anyone.Go to CAB to help you fill in the forms because theirs a certain way of answering the questions, don't let them win,it's you that has to win, fight your corner.Think of them as bullies, and you have to show them your not giving in.A comrade !Jacksiex.
Hi honey don't be put off, you will never know unless you try. What if you never and you were entitled it's you that will suffer. Just jump through their hoops and hopefuly you will come out on top, you are strong, you can do it

Hi Kiera, I hope it wasn't my post that put you off. As said above, you need to stay strong and fight for what is rightfully yours. If you have a blue badge then I would imagine that you should at least be entitled to the mobility element of the benefit. If you do reapply make sure you use the works and pensions guides from 'info@fibroaction.org ' or get somebody at the CAB to help you. Good luck and don't forget to let us know how you get on. Jane x
Thank you so much for all your support, I am going to try and get help to fill the forms in and thanks for the advice about help & advice sheets just trying to get into the 'mind space' that if they turn me down im just going to keep appealing. Had a rough month with fibro and also admitted to hospital earlier this week with a flare up of gallstones so just feeling a bit sorry for myself...thanks Rachel x
email info@fibroaction.org for the benefits & work info. the booklet goes through each question. there is also a useful sheet to print off and fill in which you copy and give to your gp and consultants - ask them to use it to write you a letter of support and send it to you for your claim pack [copy them first]. they can use the info that you have put on the form to answer the dla questions.
regards,
sandra.
Benefits and Work is a great site and the info is so helpful, it's always worth applying, if you don't apply you won't get it !!!
Thanks to my GP I managed to qualify for a Blue Badge prior to receiving HRM, I'm pretty sure it helped in the final decision.
Just remember when filling in your form that any pain & discomfort you experience in general must be increased/made worse (ie becomes severe pain/discomfort) by the physical act of walking - background pain doesn't seem to count as far as DLA/HRM is concerned.
If you can find the DLA desciprotrs online that may help you fill in the forms properley. The descriptors are very different to the questions on the forms. I think the fact that the descriptors are more accurate than the forms is very unfair. I wish you luck with it all xxxxx
