How many of you have/are attending a fibro course at your local hospital. ? The one i have been put on is an 8 week course. I will be going for the 3rd time tomorrow.

What do you think of these ?

what was the main thing you got from these sessions ?

love to have your comments

i was referred to the group (an eight week course) by my pain management consultant and it covers various fibro management mechanisms and also have a speaker or someone there each week for the first part of the session - each session is 2 and a half hours - 1 hour then 1/2 hour lunch break and then another hour. they have had a consultant and i am not sure about last week as i did not go and i think this week is the head of physio?

when i was first told i had fibro i went to one of these groups and to tell you the truth i knew more about fibro than the experts did, i went for about 4-6 weeks but it didnt do me any good so i stopped going.

what did they cover in your group please ?

The one i am going is a fibro management group. the first week we had a talk from a consultant confirming to the group fibro was real, when it was named etc and thenn later we did things like emotion and how it affects you or differently.

last week they covered energy management and pacing and goal setting (i did not go last week as i was ill) however i am there tomorrow

I haven't personally heard of any fibro management groups at my local hospitals, it's hard enough trying to find a support group in my area.

I wish there was one in my area i would definately attend. I have attended a pain management course at the charity MIND but unfortunately they had their funding pulled so are not running any at the moment. I always seem to have to self refer as gp just wants me to take amitriptaline for pain.
