I have only just been diagnosed, so am asking lots of questions and thank you for those who have answered x

What caused your Fibro?

I think mine has been caused by either the ME or my recent divorce and fighting for my house!?

I had an operation which went badly wrong and a 2 day key hole surgery became a 6 month journey of misery, bile duct curt, drain installed which became infected, burst and developed septicima this was in 2007 was diagnoised in 2009.

This is just my opinion, I believe that it is some thing already in

Your body, and that stress of some kind triggers it, I think most

Of us who have full fibro, already had it before it was diagnosed

And just put it down to the odd pain, for me I believed that for

Years the pain in my hip was lifting in hospital so I did nothing

My mother also had fibro but thought it was arthritis, it's a very

Strange thing this fibro and takes a very long time to accept that

Yes I so agree with what you have just said.I believe prolonged stress triggered mine.I was in an abusive relationship for 8 years and when I got out of that relationship I ended up marrying an alcoholic/addict.Was in the relationship for 10 years,was working as a nurse and years earlier had injured back whilst lifting patients plus fractured coccyx as well when fell in the bath so all in all the end result was fibro

I lived in a very stressful abusive relationship for 20yrs and during that time I also had a lot of operations, some of which went badly wrong (needing emergency surgery to put it right, resusitating, ICU and some brain damage). However I also believe that hormones play a part - not only the hormones of the sufferer but also those of their parents. My parents were both in their 30's when I was born and I was the 7th child and my mum was having problems with her periods etc for a few years before I was conceived. I have spoken with others who were late babies or the youngest in larger families who also suffer badly; especially if one or both of their parents have joint/connective tissue problems etc. I am convinced that there are multiple reasons for this rather than just one.

It sounds like it lays dormant then and pops up and makes itself known! Looking back I think I may well have had Fibro for a lot longer, possibly with the ME (which was bought about by Shingles, Glandular fever and husband at the time having an affair resulting in a death all in the space of 4 months)

What I don't understand is why it is giving me gipp now. I am in a lovely relationship, I have paid off the house and was up 'til a few months ago enjoying life again.

Last year 10 September I slipped and broke three toes in my left foot. That finally let to the diagnosis. My last pain free day was 9 September - before then the pain came and went and was manageable.

I sustained a blow to the head when i was hit by a car aged 17. I had no signs of injury at the time but a few months later i was showing signs of PTSD and depression. I then began to suffer from constant unexplainable widespread pain, fatigue etc. It took me 5 years to get a diagnosis of Fibro previous to that i was being told it was rheumatoid arthritis. I was referred to a rheumatologist in 2005 and was finally diagnosed

I had just got back from a lovely holiday, went to bed and woke up not being able to move. Managed to get to the doctor and he gave me an assessment and told me he thought that it was fibromyalgia. I was tested by the usual things, ct scan, bone isotope, mri. Everything came up clear, but my b12 and vit d was extremely low. Five years on, I am in constant pain, have tinnitus and high blood pressure! I still to this day have no idea how this happened.

I was working in a sterile services department in a hospital. I was told I had to have hep B injections or lose my job.

An hour after having the second injection my whole body started to hurt, even my little toes. I was off work for 6 months unable to even get to the toilet because of the pain. The injection was what triggered my fibro.

Work injured nurse with a family history of osteoarthritis and an abusive relationship things went pear shaped rapidly after my back injury all my joints are affected now and newly diagnosed with fibro . I seriously think I've had it for many years but old Gp refused to acknowledge fibromyalgia existed
