Well, after my trip to A&E, I went to my GP to tell/ ask him about the hospital doctor saying I needed to be refered to pain clinic and maybe a breast reduction. He looked straight at ne and just said no. I felt like smacking him. All he did was swap me from 600mg of gabapentin 4 times a day to 175mg of pregabalin daily. I also have an assessment for PIP in october but its in my home. Anyone got any tips? I cant even remember what I put on my form.

I am so sorry to read that you were completely dismissed in this way by your GP. I would definitely go and see a different GP at your surgery or find another surgery if they are all like minded?
I have pasted you a link below to the ATOS website, there will be a lot of information there about what to expect:
I would give information on the basis that it is your worse day of pain ever, so when you are asked how far you can walk give them the answer as though it was your worse day. The same with everything else, I hope that makes sense the way I have written it?
I want to wish you all the best of luck with your assessment and please let us all know how you get on?
O'dear, I always take a photo copy of my forms at the library so I can check up from year to year what I have said and what has changed, something to remember in future! I went through the questions they ask you and made notes and took them with me to help me remember as i forget easily, just as well as I took ill at the interview. Wish you luck. Gentle hugs!
if you feel you need to see a pain clinic is there a way to get to see a clinic without his having to refer you? did he give you any solid answer why he said no? some pain clinics do much more than just get pain meds. they give classes on how to manage your day, how to use your body so can do every day chores with less pain, seeing a phycologist (know spelling is incorrect-too tired to check. sorry), and physical therapist. perhaps see if there is a fibro group locally that can advise you. good luck--les
Trying to get a referral to a pain clinic can be hopeless. There is nothing in our area and the health authority will not fund out of area referrals. I want pain management rather than drugs but it seems the authorities prefer to keep paying out long term for tablets instead of helping us find alternatives.
I am sorry to hear you have experienced problems getting a Pain Clinic referral. I would like to provide you with the following link to a post written by the Founder of FibroAction Lindsey Middlemiss which may be of help;
We, FibroAction can provide you with step by step guides for PIP, please email us using info@fibroaction.org and we will be happy to supply these by email.
I'd see another doctor sweetheart!!! There is NO REASON you should suffer needlessly. That's just horrific. I pray you get the much needed help that you need honey!!! xxxx Mitzi
You have made the first fundamental school person error! Always photocopy or scan filled out form to your computer. You need a copy for your own records for this very situation, but what's done is done! I suggest you ask benefits if they would be kind enough to email you a copy of your form as you feel there are maybe things you would like to add to it (don't say you can't remember what you've written) hopefully you'll get someone who will act immediately. Failing that all I can suggest is have a notpad with you & everytime you think of or experience symptoms write it down, analyse every single thing you do, how you feel when doing it, if you have that at least it will be of some help to you. Best of luck with your assessment. Take care hugs xx
Thankyou, i will do both of those. The only reason I didnt photocopy it was I didnt have a printer at the time and was too ill to go to the library. We live and learn!
